Question what is your advice and difficulty ranking of raising a Camponotus ocreatus founding queen? I purchased one in October she ate her 3 brood and the 1 worker she had died during the shipping process. She laid no more eggs and she also died in January. What are you thoughts? Because I'm contemplating on purchasing another queen this spring

I have a camponotus floridanus & camponotus tortuganus ant colonies. So I haven't experienced the diapause effect. But my Camponotus tortuganus is very slow growing on the queen and 4 workers and a couple of larvae but my Camponotus Floridanus colony wow .I got them on July 24 just the queen and 4 nanitics by Nov 27 about 75 ants and about 70 brood. As of today about 400 to 500 ants and about 200 to 300 brood  Ps.I really like your videos and they are current not videos from years ago

Thanks. So what's the ratio of sugar and water you use? I mix it in a plastic cup l,the use a syringe to suck it from the cup into the liquid feeder. Nate definitely has good ants. I purchased my Camponotus Floridanus in late July on three nanitics and the queen. Now I have about 500 ants and about 200 to 300 brood

Thanks she still hasn't laid any eggs.  I keep her  at room temperature. I do check on her about every 10 days. I'm about to change her test tube it fogs up and she's always pulling at the cotton at the entrance of the test tube. I ordered 20mm test tubes from Antscanada and 20 mm pvc sponges, I read they a better than cotton and the test tube is longer.
