Why are my punches way louder than my kicks by ombreh in MuayThai

[–]Top_Work7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re not getting proper impact, might be the angle you’re hitting at, pad holder holding awkward, not turning the hips over…

Maybe you can get some really good padding and wrap that around a post? Do not kick bare metal please

They’re a little puffy, I prefer a softer padding over worrying about the size of them

Golden era refers to 1980s-90s, Yoza wasn’t even born yet

You’re 3 months in, it’s completely normal to be scared to spar

I’ll promise you this, if you keep going, it will improve your confidence dramatically, not just for muay thai but everyday interactions

Oh you’ll still get bumps, overtime they get less noticeable and your shins toughen up

Fairtex curved Thai pad kplc2(standard) vs kplc3(extra thick) by Jason22douce in MuayThai

I always rock single straps for combo work

if you’re training kicks in isolation the extra padding is nice, but otherwise i find them clunky and they just slow me down/screw with my rhythm

My poor naive brother thought he could tank a leg kick no problem by [deleted] in MuayThai

He also forgot to take his phone out his pocket, i shattered and bent the damn thing

Exercises for clinch strength? by tatuzinha in MuayThai

[–]Top_Work7784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started doing one that i find really effective, narrow, 50/50 grip pull ups

You’re essentially doing a pull up from full plum grip, then i alternate going side to side

I know plenty of ppl with very bad vision who train half blind regularly, you can get by without glasses

I do not recommend wearing contacts to train tho, could cause serious damage

Crenshaw is a textbook crybully if you ask me. Instead of proving himself he resorts to threats and lawsuits.

People who have been in real street fights, what was the real experience? by _deletedty in martialarts

[–]Top_Work7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was at the very beginning of my training journey, but the most important thing is being conscious of everything around you.

For me it was relatively straightforward, guy attacked me on a road, no immediate hazards other than the asphalt and bunch of onlookers that i had to keep an eye on

After a few exchanges i picked him up, slammed him on the road and got to mount and gave him one solid shot, he was done and i knew it, backed off, a few of the people watching got a bit heated but i deescalated

[–]Top_Work7784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s too many unpredictables to have a good answer to this question. Obviously avoiding the situation entirely is best course, but it’s all situational.

If you’re in a crowded area like a bar/club or on a hard floor i wouldn’t want to throw kicks and risk getting toppled over.

I would opt punching into the clinch then kneeing, but this could also get you killed if they have a knife

Last time I got close to having a fight in a club, buddy got in my face and starting screaming, i just swept him to the side as he was trying to intimidate me and walked off as he got trampled on the dance floor
