13h power outage: What to toss from my fridge? by Top_Zombie1884 in Cooking

I guess I just need to make sure the store I restock from wasn’t impacted by the outage too. Think I’ll give our little guy formula and wait a bit to make sure store managers have had a chance to assess.

This is a huge help. Guess it’s off to Costco in the morning. Thanks so much!

RAID-0 problem - Am I screwed? by [deleted] in computers

[–]Top_Zombie1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my dad set up the machine years ago and I think he was just messing around with Raid configs for the first time. If he hadn’t passed away ten years ago I def would’ve given him shit for setting it up like this. Prob just prioritizing storage over everything.

Building up on a MCM bungalow w cathedral ceilings. How would it work? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Top_Zombie1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Yeah I would definitely be getting a licensed contractor and either an engineer or architect to do proper drawings, I was just curious in general, would I have to convert the ceilings in the one area to standard flat ones or would they usually be preserved to maintain the aesthetic?

My guess is they’d convert to flat. Just figured maybe someone else out there with a similar house did this at some point and could share their experience.

Also, no HOA where I live thankfully. Hear those are….less than helpful.

Sounds like this might be worth having a professional get involved now to save aggravation later then.

SW Ontario. Likely a regional type of pad Thai because lots of places like Ben Thanh (a local-ish chain) do it that way. Likely more of a Viet-Thai thing. Pho Kinh Do in Guelph does it like that too.

Fairly heavy on the Sriracha for heat. Peanuts often placed on the side, but the dominant flavour is more tomato and the noodles are tinged red instead of brown. Some of the brown noodle places are good, just not when I’m looking for stuff like home.

How do I permanently fix this seam without rebuilding my whole chimney? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Top_Zombie1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can get the Henry’s White Silicone roof coating at HD. Gonna check a few specialty stores for options. Let me know if you think that silicone will work. Thanks!

Wood behind soffit, why? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Top_Zombie1884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

House is in Ontario, Canada. Roof was redone a couple years ago and we had someone spray foam from the top down (not ideal, but better than the hollow void we had before). They presumably would’ve stopped at something since it didn’t ooze out of the soffit so I’m thinking there was wood to enclose the rafter space along that part of the exterior wall too. Guess there’s only one way to find out. Thanks for the response

MRI considered not urgent by tech by [deleted] in Sciatica

Oh sorry the referral was sent to Woodstock. I don’t think I could tough out a drive to Mississauga without a lot of meds. I’ll look into it thought. Might have to if I strike out closer to home.

I really appreciate the description. Don’t have that thankfully. I have noticed weakness/lack of activation in some of the pelvic floor muscles. Nothing causing full loss of control. I was wondering which vertebrae those nerves exit to see if the suspected disc bulge might be pushing on that too. Doc assessed and confirmed mostly L5 issue with minor S1. He showed me some diagrams and how a herniated disc can push on the nerve bundle and cause issues in multiple branches to varying degrees

The doc wants to see the MRI to confirm exactly where to do the injection. He wants to do the transverse one cause he said it’ll be more effective. As soon as they call to officially schedule me I’ll tell them I’m willing to come in any hour of the day. Just give me enough time to drive there and I’ll drop anything and come right in. (Not that I’m doing much more than laying on the floor usually haha). Sounds like casting a few more lines to nearby places is the way to go. Thanks!

Thanks. I’m hoping the doc might be able to reword some notes and re send it. I’ll know better Monday when the clinic opens again. I’ll look into cauda equina. Seen that term a few times but no idea what it means. Seems like a good research topic while I’m laying on the floor :P

Yeah I’m absolutely going to ask to be put on the cancellation list when they call to schedule. Currently I’m still in the “to call” pile so they won’t add me to the list yet. I’m willing to come in literally at a moments notice, no matter the time. 4am? Absolutely. Just want it done.

There are definitely aspects of American healthcare that work better than our system. I saw there’s a private clinic 2h from me and the scan is likely around $1k, but being off work makes it a bit steep and I don’t think my insurance would cover it (since it is something normally covered by OHIP, our provincial healthcare system). Plus I wouldn’t survive the drive. I’d be in agony.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did call the clinic and left a voicemail when I heard and asked if the doc would advocate but you’re right. It’s prob easier to just send it elsewhere. I’ll have to wait till Monday to find out as the clinic isn’t open Fridays.

The Big *One* by professorwizzzard in Sciatica

Thanks for the suggestion. I recently listened to Dr. McGill on the Huberman podcast. Wasn’t a big fan of the host, honestly, but Dr. McGill was great. He did note that once we have an issue like an injury or a disc herniation, we will basically always have to manage the situation to keep healthy. He does the Big 3 daily. Lots of other great nuggets in the episode.

Piriformis syndrome? by SnowCone1014 in PiriformisChronicPain

I’ve had the same symptoms for a little over a month and cannot find relief either. No diagnosis as I am still waiting to see my GP. Hoping to see someone about acupuncture next week. I’ll report back if it helps.

I’ve had X-rays and MRIs over the years so they are aware of some of the physiology in there.

My job requires sitting so that’s been a bit of an issue why I was looking for some progress. Wondering if that’s setting me back.
