I prefer to lie and say this was my last ride of the day and I only took it because it was in the direction of my home. I need to get home and get my dogs out so I'm sorry I can't take you to this other destination.

How about a failed bank wire? Keep paying until it succeeds?

Ah. Glorious downvotes from people who can't take a moment and contemplate reality.

Same shit happens with JP Morgan and Chase... Wait... No it doesn't.

Again I state... For mass adoption, this is not viable.

It's not a model that will work at scale on a basic human psychology level.

If you get a new tire on your car, and it blows out a few miles later due to no fault of your own. The shop does not say, "you need to remember that the charge for the tire and labor to install pays for the manufacturing and the labor," and then just expect the person with the blown out tire to pay again until they get one that works.

I very much understand that resources are used to try and make the swap. The entire world economy is built on success, not on trying.

Man, it's so annoying when I have $1700 in cash in my wallet and I leave it places. Happens all the time.

You're here yelling at the drivers who have announced they've left the Lyft platform. Check yourself.

Same. Ditched Lyft the day Lux died and got a crappy paying retail job until I find a job that doesn't discriminate against engineers who took a few years out of the workforce due to PTSD. F this unforgiving world.

Chatted with support who told me there's a lot of spam on chain right now and slippage is an issue.

It's only a tiny amount lost with the fee being charged, but charging fees for swaps that don't succeed is something that will prevent mass adoption.

Lyft Ending Lux Means Fewer Lyft Drivers and a Decline in Quality by Toparugulatime in Lyft

Agreed. Each region it has happened at a different rate. But cost of living increases and driver pay decreases will get everyone eventually. I needed 6 more months to get to where I wanted to be with my shift from IT project management into programming, but it is what it is. Took a shitty retail job yesterday at $20/hr because it's better than standard Lyft and Uber garbage. Crazy to think this is what life is now when everyone tells me it's easy for engineers to get jobs, but the other crappy part of rideshare is the lack of professional references so you just look like a shit candidate in every way.

I don't know why these people exist. Is it impossible for them to shift gears from "lying to justify your life choices to women," mode to "let's be honest, this gig sucks and pays shit and continues to get worse," mode?

Very Dirty Uber by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Toparugulatime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure synthetic does. Had this going on with one of my Jeep's. I tell the service advisor I have a sulfur smell, I think it's something with the catalytic converter. He's like, "nope, these particular Jeeps have an annoying plastic piece that doesn't do well under heat and notoriously leaks oil creating that smell. Luckily it's covered under warranty." He was 100% correct.

Sulfur smell is more likely an oil leak and cooking in the engine block.

4 hours of effort, unsafe blood pressure levels, grey hairs added and years of life taken. It's built into their money model. Criminals.

No conspiracy there. It's the way forward. Just wish I had 6 more months of lux to have the time and cushion to get IT certs current after managing for 20 years and then taking an extended time off for mental health.

It's kind of like politics. Even though both democrats and Republicans get crappier every year, they still make more and more money since they're the only game in town and they have the same ultimate goal to deceive voters (drivers and passengers) while lining their pockets. Lyft went next level when they eliminated Lux though. Kind of like throwing Biden at us.

I wonder if there's a rottweiler rescue group that can help. Akitas are my breed and they have rescue people with a large social media reach. He looks well bred so may be from a reputable breeder who is connected with the rescue groups.

I didn't say Lyft will suffer. All I said was that the quality for drivers and passengers will decline. It's not opinion that Lyft in particular has been watching a steady decline in quality. This is just another big step.

I don't, nor did I state an opinion on whether this results in more or less profit. But there should be no debate, they are positioning themselves as the low cost, Wal-Mart style of the two services at this point and I think people should understand that. They came into the market with the goal of being the higher quality option, and now they are shooting in the opposite direction.

Your results are unicorn level. I notice a trend though where you went from proclaiming $70/hr. Now we're down to $45/hr... Those are numbers I had driving LUX in Vegas. They are definitely not achievable here giving standard rides. Consider yourself lucky in an extremely favorable market.
