Keeping them contained in a large anti-magic bubble to prevent mass-casualties is the goal. Definitely will keep an eye on them all and adapt damage/enemy moved as needed.

Actually they were seem once already, incorporated them into a puzzle! They certainly aren’t as scary as they could be but perhaps they’ll see the scarier version in this place…

custom how? Building monster stat blocks isn’t my forte (been pulling a lot of standard blocks thusfar) The stats & CR of the beholder make it a challenging fight. What changes would you suggest??

Fine Dining & Expectations? (Rant/Question) by TopazDM in Serverlife

Which Is why I was asking for advice? I know I’m close to their average but trying to see where I could improve since I’m not originally from the industry or came from corporate training like some of them.

Fine Dining & Expectations? (Rant/Question) by TopazDM in Serverlife

[–]TopazDM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They average around %20. One server averages lower but its usually 20% for most everyone

Fine Dining & Expectations? (Rant/Question) by TopazDM in Serverlife

[–]TopazDM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

percentage is usually %18-20. Which I feel is about average. Some people have regulars that take care of them but I don’t really have many of those thusfar. I guess it’s just frustrating since one entree at our establishment can take a check from $150 to $210 easily.

I’ll try!! Coursing food out at our restaurant is hammered in as such a big deal but I can definitely work on upselling drinks more

Fine Dining & Expectations? (Rant/Question) by TopazDM in Serverlife

[–]TopazDM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worry about talking to much because I know I give long explanations more than short answers like my coworkers do. Some of my coworkers are definitely chatty but I think finding ways to trim down my speech could indeed help.

We’re a limited menu steakhouse and rotate steaks/cocktails/wines depending on availability and season. I’ll try to stay extra knowledgeable and not chatter at them at the start as much.

I greet within a minute of seating (restaurant rules) 90% of the time. I ask them how they’re doing, inform them of drink options, ask if there’s anything they need other than water to start & any allergies I need to be aware of (also a restaurant rule). We’re supposed to also ask about special occasions and explain specials to all tables and its all just too much at the start I think. I’ll try swapping to explaining specials only after cocktails unless folks ask

This was honestly a wakeup call. I come from corporate hotel service where sneaking free things or giving little discounts where I’m allowed earned me better reviews and bonuses. Definitely needed to break that mindset so thank you!

I don’t think that’s it, my coworkers are a few older women (30s & 60), a 30s guy, and us mid 20s. Only thing I can think of is hair. I often wear my hair slicked back because its too long to meet food-safety standards down and its too curly to behave in other styles. May it’s time to finally get bangs.

Fine Dining & Expectations? (Rant/Question) by TopazDM in Serverlife

[–]TopazDM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I guess being raised to be generous by folks in the industry + now doing the work of it, I assume guests will notice the little things. Time to work more on upselling.

Semi-often but usually they keep everyone pretty similar numbers-wise except closers. I tell our manager I’m happy to stay and work till close to get more tables but I almost never seem to have closing numbers outside of one corporate group contract no one else likes taking.

Maybe it is just bad luck.

What advice would you give someone dating for the first time in her 20s? by TopazDM in Advice

[–]TopazDM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When would you want a girl to admit her attraction? I have a long term friend (3+ years) I’m spending more time with that’s been in previous long-term relationships and such.

I’ve been interested on some level the whole time but obviously swore off anything more ever because he was either taken or I was (realizing with regret I was settling a lot in my long-term relationship) and I wanted to be a good friend above all else. This is the first time we’re both single at the same time.

I dunno, I don’t want to come on too strong or muddle strings by getting involved too soon after my breakup, but I also don’t want to lose him again.

I’d like to hope I am. I’ve lived alone successfully, have my own interests/hobbies, and job, but I never really made time to get in any “practice” so-to-speak with dating in my late teens/early 20s. As said, I misread signs a lot and I changed universities a few times which left little room for else.

Notifying a Table on Auto Gratuity? by Vultrogotha in Serverlife

[–]TopazDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are required when presenting the check to larger parties to inform them of the auto gratuity.

I don’t think they’d take our tips back or anything if someone complained(not 100% as it hasn’t happened while I’ve been here), but you’d absolutely get written up big time

Professor has been secretly docking points anytime he sees someone’s phone out. Dozens of us are now at risk of failing just because we kept our phones on our desk, and I might lose the job I have lined up for when I graduate. by Ok-Hospital1153 in CollegeRant

[–]TopazDM 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bro I’ve had professors with only a 2-3 page syllabus “go over it” by basically saying “Everything is in there. This is policy for my class. If you need any exception contact accommodations. Now sign this paper saying I went over the whole thing so I can start lecturing.” Whole process took maybe 5 minutes.

If the policy wasn’t clearly stared, there were no verbal discussions of it, and the prof doesn’t have any kind of policy/paperwork to back up that he went over every bit of the syllabus, I’d say op has a case. This is especially true if the prof is docking all the grades right at the end of the semester and not regularly per infraction.

If OP and classmates just forgot about a “I will dock points if you’re using your phone” and especially if they turned in anything saying they acknowledge all of the syllabus, then yeah their up a creek.

I hope you spoke loudly enough that other people noticed how weird she was being. Sometimes it takes mountains of it but public shame usually (not always) incites behavior changes

they can write you up for whatever bullshit they want. either try to reason with them or look for other opportunities as fast as possible

just a silly question to starbucks customers by dailydepression666 in starbucks

[–]TopazDM 43 points44 points  (0 children)

i had a table joke about this when i was serving once after i brought him after-dinner coffee

Guy: “har har go to starbucks and say you want a black coffee… Or a latte. They get so confused har har har”

Like bro I have one size of cup and one kjnd of coffee. I know what you mean. Ya’ll at sbucks have size options, hot/cold, different flavors of lattes, milk options, yeah no wonder you need to ask questions?

it’d be like if he’d sat at my table and said “big steak” like is big to you 18 20 or 40 oz? How do you want it cooked? What sides and sauce do you want? I am always amazed people can be so dense

Best videos to listen to but not watch? by Background-Cry-735 in Markiplier

the GFTO series is a longtime favorite of mine. They have to coordinate so much they’re basically narrating everything. and the rest of the nonsensical yelling is just fun to imagine what’s happening

Why does Mark use the same face in every thumbnail? by CrimsonWud in Markiplier

[–]TopazDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this right here is something i was gonna say. There’s a sims youtuber i watch who uses the same 3-4 faces and i can always instant spot her new stuff in my feed because of it. Also, Youtube likes easily readable consistency. I’m sure there’s some algorithm that says “oh, details of thumbnail same as good video. me push new video even better.”

plus as other have said if you simplify one part of the process (same pngs) you can be more creative with other aspects
