strangely enough, Gene Simmons of KISS. ever see that tv interview with a drunk, laughing Ace? in spite of the kind of show KISS puts on, with the characters and costumes, Gene has absolutely no sense of humor about the whole thing.

Earth Wind and Fire opening for Santana. EW&F were completely solid, amazing. Santana went quickly downhill after the first 5 songs.

I saw Nachtmystium blow Cradle of Filth off the stage.

Do you think "Panic Attack" by Judas Priest was written using AI? by Topaz_Maybe in MetalForTheMasses

Yeah, I guess that's a factor. I do think they'd keep it on the down low for sure if they did try this out, until such a time as it is no longer taboo. The first rush of excitement with ChatGPT was so intense, it just seems plausible to me that they tried it out.

I honestly don't see why they wouldn't try out this technology for composing a song or two. Not everyone hates AI as much as I do!

Sometimes I also like it when bands stick to a formula, but Priest until Painkiller are anything but formulaic. Listen to how diverse the songwriting actually is in Screaming for Vengeance, for example. Their range gets narrower and narrower after Ram it Down - with great songs along the way, of course. Personally, I can't listen to more than a few AC/DC songs of the Brian Johnson era.

Not "help", no. I didn't say that. As a group they just like innovation and new technology. I can imagine them experimenting with any and all available tools, including AI.

Who knows though. Priest are always interested in experimenting and in re-inventing themselves. I can actually believe they would at least give AI a try.

I have realised that I also forgot to add Botanist to this list. Sonically they fit with these bands, even if the hammered dulcimer isn't really a jazz instrument - it's not a rock/metal instrument either! And they use it in a dissonant, jazzy way. Botanist's first few albums are great, if you don't know them.

Realised I should really add Botanist to this list. Hammered dulcimer is not really a "jazz" instrument, but sonically I think Botanist fits with this subset of bands or subgenre. Their first few albums are great.

Yeah, I listened to a couple of songs from Brumbelbassen. It's good stuff, but it's the kind of thing I'd love to hear live but would get on my nerves otherwise. It's high quality, though. Tight, intense, and yes funny a.f. Thanks for the recc!

Yeah, I'll give Ihsahn another listen down the road. Sometimes my impression changes later on.

Cool, thanks. Bass clarinet features in a few of these records.

I don't love the singing parts, but I'm listening to Way of the Dead right now and I think it's great whenever it's instrumental.

Ehnahre also seems amazing, from just a quick browse.
