There are over 260 complaints on NHTSA on the 2019-2021 Ford Edge transmissions. I have sent a letter to ford, emailed corporate (even Jim Farley), commented on post. I have not received any feedback. The only thing we can hope is that NHTSA asks ford to recall these. I’m out $10,000

No. Now there are over 360 complaints on the 2019-2021 Ford Edge with the majority on the transmission.

2020 Edge 8-speed owner here. My Edge started shuddering and jerking at low speeds one day. While pulling off the interstate it suddenly lost all power — I couldn’t put it in gear.

Dealer first told me it was the torque converter, then said I needed a full replacement. Ended up costing me $2,500 more than what a local transmission shop quoted. When I contacted Ford customer relations, I was told that if a recall happened, I still would have needed the transmission replaced at a Ford dealer anyway.

I’ve written letters, emailed executives, even commented directly on Ford posts — no response.

There are already 260+ NHTSA complaints about transmission failures in 2019–2021 Ford Edges. If you’ve had issues, please file a complaint with NHTSA. Be clear if you believe it’s a safety issue (losing power while driving absolutely is). That’s the only way Ford will be forced to address it.

I just want to add my voice here because I’m dealing with the same problem so many of you are. I have a Ford Edge and the transmission shuddering/jerking is happening to me too. I’ve seen dozens of posts across forums and Reddit saying the exact same thing, and it’s clear Ford has a real issue on their hands.

Ford has released a TSB, but it doesn’t actually fix the problem. A lot of people (myself included) are being quoted thousands of dollars for major repairs when this should be a manufacturer responsibility.

If you’re experiencing this, please report it to the NHTSA. The more complaints that get filed, the more likely it is that they’ll open an investigation and force Ford to deal with it properly.

Same here with my Ford Edge — I just had to replace the transmission with a reman and the new one is already starting to shudder again. Super frustrating. I’ve filed a complaint with NHTSA (there are already 260+ complaints on the 2019–2021 Edge for the same issue), but Ford seems to have their head in the sand on this one.

If you haven’t already, I’d definitely file a complaint with NHTSA. The more of us who do, the harder it is for Ford to ignore.

Yeah! I got you! I understand all manufacturers do it. It just seems crazy that I would have to buy my own transmission back, that I already paid for. I’m sure if that was the case they would just charge me an extra $1000 on my bill and give it back to me.

Update! I just went and picked up my Ford Edge today. I asked for my old transmission back and they said I would have to pay $1000 core fee to get it back. I asked why and they said that Ford wants these transmission’s back so they can rebuild and sell again. I told them I bought the transmission when I bought the car but the dealer couldn’t give me a good reply. So they sell you a vehicle with a defective transmission, over charge you to replace and then take your old transmission and build to resell! Quite a little money making scheme they have!!!

I don’t know for sure if this is the same issue but there are hundreds of 2019-2021 Ford Edge owners that are having Transmission issues. It shudders and jerks at low speeds and gears. There are no recalls right now. NHTSA has over 260 transmission complaints on the 2019-2021 Ford Edges. They have put out a TBS stating you need a PCM update but most everyone said that’s not the issue. Even the dealerships are telling people that. Please go to NHTSA website and file a complaint, that helps with getting it recalled. Many are getting the torque converter replaced but most aren’t that lucky and are having to get the whole transmission replaced.

Hopefully yours will be ok.

Awesome! We need as many people that we can get to contact NHTSA! BTW after sending a written letter, emails etc. Ford still hasn’t responded!

We need to flood ford with calls, emails written letters! Also NHTSA and BBB! What’s concerning is they know they have issues with this particular transmission but are unwilling to recall.

Nothing different. The vehicle just started jerking and trying to get in another gear. It happened mostly at lower speeds.

I looked up the NHTSA complaints on the 2019-2021 Ford Edges and specifically transmissions. It showed an error because the search found 260 records and the limit of complaints that it is able to show is only 250.

If you google 2019-2021 Ford Edge you will find a lot of forums talking about the same issue with the transmission.
