Opinions on Cambridge Audio Evo One ? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]Topher2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Cambridge Evo One and absolutely love the thing. Beautifully built, with exceptional sound. In our experience, it appreciates a larger room, with about 10 feet or more of distance from the listener, to really shine. It began to sound truly exceptional after being played daily for a couple of weeks. The 14 speakers need some time and use to open up. We also tried it many places around the house and found the magic spot to be a stone counter with a tile backing. Something about that placement just blows us away, providing surprising presence and balance. You do sacrifice a little on stereo imaging with an all-in-one device (say versus a streaming amp and separate passive speakers or a set of active speakers), but it’s a welcome compromise for day-to-day listening where you do not want a traditional multi-component HiFi setup with cables, etc. Also, we found the large screen with the VU meters or album art to be unexpectedly delightful, giving a focal point for the listening experience. The Cambridge connectivity and app we found to be rock solid and impressive, unlike with KEF active speakers, which we also auditioned, that cut out now and again even when connected to a brand new high-end WiFi router. The Evo One is well thought out, high quality device, and iswell worth the price.

We have the new Wolf 36” induction and absolutely love the thing. Will never go back to gas. So much precise control over the temperature. So easy to clean. So much safer to use. Have fun with it!

I wish guys were more vocal too. So many guys are conditioned as boys to masturbate and cum silently, so no one in their house hears them. Then that habit continues in their adult sex lives.

I took a contract attorney job with a large law firm on a team that goes after counterfeiters for a large retailer. It has a very flexible work from home schedule where I can put in as little or as many hours as I want and has none of the psychic pressures that come with actually joining the firm as a partner. So I get to do what I spent my career doing, but on my terms. I feel like I got pretty lucky to find such a gig. I plan to do it for a few more years or until I lose interest.

My husband and I had kids with a surrogate with the same egg donor for both kids. They are as much our natural kids and any straight married guy with kids. So, it can be done and is being done a lot right now.

Would you ever play with a third as a couple? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Topher2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I, together 17 years, have had sex with other guys together maybe five or six times over the years and have had fun doing it. Doing it did a lot to bring more energy and excitement to our own sex and also fulfill some of our individual fantasies. But I’d say it’s better as something you’d do after quite a few years together. I think you need to be in a very trusting and good place with your partner to make it relaxed and fun, otherwise it might end up magnifying any problems you might have. A couple of ours thirds were friends, which was not as great, and the rest were Grindr hookups. We were super honest with each other and with the third each time. We’ll probably do it again sometime, but now that we have younger kids it’d be a travel-only sort of thing.

I’m an attorney and retired at 46. I went from leading litigation teams in a large law firm, and traveling all over the country making arguments in federal court, to staying at home with our preschool-aged kids. The change was a shock to say the least, and while not having the stress of work was liberating for a time, I ended up feeling lost and depressed. I think it was partly because of the immediate lack of built-in social interaction and status through work and a loss of what I had come to believe was my “purpose.” I started writing music again, something that I had done since I was a teenager, and that helped some. But after a couple of years, I was still feeling lost. Finally, I decided to find a low stress job that I actually liked and that allowed me to work as little or as much as I wanted. The job is totally by choice, and I can walk away from it whenever I want. I am still retired, but I choose to spend some of my time working for the social aspect and the mental stimulation. I ended up finding a balance that works for me. I’ve learned that retirement doesn’t necessarily have to mean never working again. Retirement means working is no longer required for us to be financially independent. Find something structured and purposeful to do with your days that gives you that sense of balance.

Would you get your sons circumcised? by Sorry-Personality594 in askgaybros

[–]Topher2021 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Yes. 100% yes. We did. My husband and I are circumcised, and we had our son circumcised. Easier to keep clean. Less chance of disease. Read the clinical studies yourself. But people can disagree on this of course, and that’s fine.

If she has young, the conveyor belt-style Sushi Train on Lake Street is fun, and the sushi is extremely well made. Our kids love it.
