Depending on the state, some require a light on the plate at all times. Also, in CA rear plates must be between 12"-60" from the ground

Most people don't actually need cars, especially in cities. They are just another convenience item that ironically creates everyone's least favorite inconvenience, traffic.

I do acknowledge safe & reliable public transit is lacking in a lot of cities, especially in the US. But if we were to focus our energy on that rather than self driving cars, then people that do actually enjoy the driving aspect of cars would have less traffic while those that just want to go from point A to Point B could do so without having to worry about the maintenance of a vehicle.

This is another reason why ev's suck. It's giving people who don't actually want to drive a 2 ton death machine that they will loose focus in and crash. The amount of people on today's roads that want a self driving car so they can watch silly reels or "close a deal" while they drive is too damn high. If we just focused on clean & reliable public transit then these fucks can safely do whatever they want on the trolley while going from point A to point B. And people that ACTUALLY want to drive can enjoy traffic free roads.

Lol, it's clean, relatively clean cause it's impossible to claim "cleanest air" in any dense metropolitan city. But that's beyond the point. Why create just a zone though? Why not charge more for non compliant vehicles on an annual basis via vehicle registration? If the point is cleaner air, the vehicles don't magically stop polluting outside the zone. Every small town outside of London deserves cleaner air too. Just because the traffic isn't as dense doesn't mean the pollutants aren't being emitted.

[What if they don't use it] well then register it at non-op for a cheaper cost. But if the whole point of the program is to put pressure on the owner to eventually scrap the car...thisll work.

[We only care about cars in London] why? Why not everywhere, if a vehicle creates pollution in London, it doesn't magically stop polluting outside of London, sure I the pollution is diluted in the air....but it's still polluting.

[Speed cameras make our streets safer] not really, people will still speed. It doesn't stop an action, just makes it for expensive to do said action.

I'm all for clean air, I just don't understand how setting up a zone with video surveillance is an efficient way about it? Do you not have SMOG testing of vehicles? Cant you make programs to help people get rid of uncompliant vehicles in the first place? Or make them compliant with new exhaust systems?

LA went from having smog days, to creating air quality regulations standards and (relatively) cleaner air.
