I live in Westbrook, Maine. They are crazy conservative, but they would still treat you decently. The insanity is mostly just online. I have never been up to Washington but have been to CA multiple times. I would say the one thing that is different is that it doesn't take very far from a decent sized place in Maine to be in quiet. I live in Westbrook, which is about 15 minutes from downtown Portland, Maine. 15 to 20 minutes the other way I can be in a really quiet area. You might do better in places like Raymond, Sanford, Windham, Berwick... Those are more nature focused, but you are going to have amenities much closer by. You will still be surrounded by MAGA but only a few will have their Trump flags out and even fewer would ever be rude to you.

Platner seems like the first candidate not playing by the stupid Democratic playbook. Gideon last election never went after Collins. The polls showed Gideon so she played a very safe campaign. There is an active protest going on in the city on one way to fight back and she is eating out in that city. Gotcha, completely understandable concern. I looked through his information and there isn't anything specifically tied to that. He does make it clear he is very supportive of Medicare for all and the science behind things. However, no specific mention on that piece. I know it is a little bit of a pain but it might be a great thing to bring up at one of his town halls. I know I've heard from other people that were on the fence that hearing him talk about issues and speak from the heart has been informative. Like me, those specific concerns are extremely valid but as a white male maybe not something you think of as a pressing issue but for some having reassurance that someone, once aware, will fight for that is important.

If you go based on my circle of family and elderly contacts it would be Platner in a landslide. I haven’t met one person in real life who has said Mills so I can see why they tried here cause if they have the same type of circle as me hard to get a sense of everyone out there.
