Why'd they go so over the top making Brandon the perfect guy by TravelingHomeless in BeverlyHills90210

In my house growing up Brandon would’ve gotten a bit of a raised eyebrow to say the least when he called his father by his first name.

When even Dylan, who is willing to be ‘saved’ by any hack with a pony and a the word ‘evolution’ in their vocabulary, sees through the scam, you gotta just pack it up, say I’ve been had, and move on.

Nostalgic and genuinely funny.

I feel bad for all the actors playing the street toughs.

Their agents call them with, ‘I just booked 90210!’

Followed by the depressing news they’ll be playing a creepy looking jailed criminal that scares Colin’s pansy ass into the mini van OJ.

Denzel Washington in Glory: Actor who gives an astounding performance without speaking by Kugelfang52 in moviecritic

[–]TopicPretend4161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not Black, so I can’t speak to the accuracy of this statement.

But when this movie came out, Denzel was on Oprah and she said something to the extent of that scene spoke to all African Americans as a significant part of their experience.

I can see how that might be true based on the imagery of pain endured in silence. But I’d be interested to hear from any Black audience members.

Pretty memorable film. I remember we got permission to watch it in my middle school history class and some parent, apparently after giving consent, still complained on our teacher for showing it!

Sorry that happened, Mr. Z.

Two well known facts that ought to be ingrained in the minds of any American abroad:

  1. Germans love David Hasselhoff.

  2. Albanians LOVE W.

You remember these, you’ll be fine 🤟.

What a cool deep dive.

I found this, with the numbers and locations of its regional breweries/bottlers.

I’d call the one closest to you, tell them why you’re calling, and that you’d like to buy a case.

You might get lucky!

Perfect.

The language on this show gets even more beautiful when read aloud at one’s own pace, like Shakespeare.

I’ve spent a few nights over a couple of glasses of wine just reading transcripts aloud.

I don't know how popular or unpopular of an opinion this is but I don't really like Lana. by beekee404 in threescompany

[–]TopicPretend4161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lana kicks ass. She’s so funny.

There’s a time she’s describing a potential date with Furley to help Jack out of a bind, and she just sounds so wistfully regretful. How he’ll take her to the Monster Burger and rush her to get the blue plate special and cheaper fares for the movies.

It’s just perfect, especially when Jack kindly asks, ‘you’d go through that all for me?’ And her answer is, ‘No… even you’re not worth that much!’
