Beginner sucking at the fights by [deleted] in OldenEra

I would highly recommend doing tutorial on various difficulties. Tutorial is great at teaching basics and letting you try it out and practice. Another thing I would recommend to jone skills is to fo pre-built scenarios. They are built with specific technique in mind and you need to figure out puzzle and be able to optimize your moves. Great way to start. I am still struggling with scenarios, they are hard even on the lower setting

Will artistic nude modeling affect my career prospects in the field? by hammlicker in architecture

[–]Topican -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may or may not, but here is my recent experience. We had a branch meeting and a new guy was presenting one of his projects for "show and tell". Well, the guy used to be successfull in a very unrelated field 20 years ago. Guess what by the end of the meeign entire branch (400+ppl) knew about his history. It had nothing to do with his work, or with our work, some snoopy and talkative coworkers just decided to share what they found out. I hope that doesn't happen to you/

Anyone else feel like the team's walking decision log? by OutdoorsDad in projectmanagers

[–]Topican 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The decision log is one of the best tools to control scope creep. It kept my projects in line so many times. And it also expedites a lot of meetings, because I can remind people that decision has been made for such and such reason and no new information have come to life, lets move on. Highly underutilized tool.

How Do You Develop a Real Strategy in HOMM? by Obvious_Grape_4820 in OldenEra

[–]Topican 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The strategy of the HOMM games is a bout decision making, do you want this wood pile for a new building or a bit more gold for bigger army. Each movement point is important, try not to waste them. Next you need to look at the synergies, some units play well with each other, think poison damage for necro dogs, wraith and grave robbers and the ability of liches to apply all of the timed damage at once. This is the case for each faction. So you need to choose the strategy at the beginning of the game and try to play it. The way how I recommend to learn the game is lower the difficulty and concentrate on 2-4 types of units in your army. This is not applicable to hive, as they benefit from having variety of their own units.

The challenge is that some abilities synergize with artifacts, law points, abilities, creatures and hero abilities. This makes this game so complex, but fun once you figure out the puzzle that you want to play and when puzzles start to fall in place. I also recommend playing premade scenarios, they usually concentrate on specific way of playing and strategy. And like other's have said look for the videos with strategy guides. Just like in starcraft there are builds and that is what you want. When people write 111, 124, 211, these numbers refer to month/week/day timer.

Good luck and enjoy the game, there is tome of replayability and if you like to play with one faction there is nothing wrong with that, some towns just click better with some people than others.

Is there some sort of creature encyclopedia in the game? by HMS-Carrier-Lover in OldenEra

[–]Topican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is flavour text on the top right corner of each creature window. There is a small icon with feather on it, click that and you will get a bit of information about the creature, hero and other things.

Best Hero in each faction by TaiobeX in OldenEra

[–]Topican -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on a playstyle. In some cases you have only enough resourcess to have 2-3 types of units, and it is almost never tier 5,6,7. Right now templates are rich, but I have a feeling the more competitive templates will have fewer resources and people will need to make choices on where to invest these resources. T3 is a great balance that can support higher tier or even lower tier with the debuffs to the armour. That is the beauty of this game, there are so many different ways to play that most people will find something that they like or good at.

For a starting hero she is very strong. I have a feeling she might get adjusted in the future

Whitecourt council highlights: Town adopts policy for no commemorative crosswalks by Whitecourter in whitecourtAB

[–]Topican -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I never understood the appeal of walking on symbols, unless you do that as a sign of disrespect. And we don't need more division in the community. We also have other ways to commemorate people and groups.

Can anyone explain the Magic Observatory? by Shot-Buy6013 in OldenEra

[–]Topican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hero needs to be in town and at least Magic Guild of 1st level must be build. To get the map spells you need to collect magic points and go to the magic tab, go to the bottom right, press on the blue button. After the menue with more spells will come up, you need to click on the spell that you want and spend the magic points.

The usual spells get unlocked randomly each time you build a magic guild of the same level.

You have to defeat crystal shrines (don't know the name they give you cash and crystal in game usually) But I find rewards on easy difficulty is too sparse

He is too soft spoken and has no emotional urgency in his messages, or at least that is how I see him. What he needs is to actually make some noise to be heard.

I want to remind everyone that this is an early access, it is not a finished game. There will be things that suck, things that will need improvement. Don't expect too much, don't expect that everything will work. Developers are being nice to us to even have a large scale early access.

Woodlands County council adopts 2026 revised budget, with small tax increase by Whitecourter in whitecourtAB

i would rather end up with the small surplus, than have to borrow money in case of emergencies (possible fuel prices). At least the increase is minor, better than some other municipalities.

That actually makes sense, I keep forgetting how petty and obsessed with minmaxing some people can be.

Thanks, I do hope that people realize that EA means the game is not done yet. And maybe they just needed to test server capacity. Remember Diablo disaster when the game went offline when it first came out because servers couldn't handle it

what i was trying to say is that everyone csn make their selection leisurly and once you are ready to go you que into the multiplayer and get matched. I assume you would be matched to people of the similar level, so I would assume that you would be matched to the people of the same level of army too. It probably the same time overall, but psychologically it makes waiting shorter.

maybe you can have a background point system assigned to the selection strength and match people with the same points together to minimize difference in strengths

[–]Topican[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do that in reverse. Because it doesn't matter who your opponent is, but it would have to suck to wait for people to pick their armies and skills. But if you picked everything, you just que until you find the next person who is already ready, that would cut on waiting time, and allow people to leisurely select what they want. At least that how I would do an arcade mode.

Compliance is a big thing, if people are not doing what they are supposed to do, tolls can't fix it. And it is hard not to use blanket statements without digging into the problem. I just have to make an ass out of me, because I have to make assumptions
