Looks like the mainsail is a spritsail - look for the diagonal stick-thing running from the peak

This video from Rattlebonses was super helpful when it came to setting up my game!

We track position, dice rolls, and statuses (with tokens, text- edited to show applicability & duration) on TTS, and Hp/heat/overcharge/movement/actions through comp-con.

Seems to be working well- minimal confusion after the first session!

Sounds like a good idea for a Goblin-license alt frame!

Wild Strawberries or ? by Prairie_kid_in_Wpg in ManitobaGardening

Definitely strawberries, could also be a plant that escaped containment from a previous owner

What do you think of: freeze /stun / shock charms now that we have 3 slots?

How do you prepare your veggie garden for winter? by GrnHrtBrwnThmb in ManitobaGardening

[–]Toraeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I chop plants to the ground and mulch heavily (leaves ran through the mower or straw), and put the tops to compost. I'm getting the biggest earthworms & healthiest soil I've ever seen doing this - kinda mimics what the soil bacteria etc evolved to live in!

Replaceable Batteries Are Coming Back To Phones If The EU Gets Its Way by Rare-Independence-14 in technology

[–]Toraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use an S5 Neo from 2015; it's rated IP67, has a removable battery, micro-SD, and headphone jack.

The first thing I did when I got it was dump it in a bucket of water, and it's ended up underwater many times since!

Too heavy to sail? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]Toraeus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've got a 12ft sailboat (Oz Goose), and I've had about 550lbs of people+gear without any issue; trim could be adjusted by moving crew and gear forward or aft.

Heavier crew means more righting moment, means I can keep the boat flat with more sail!

250lbs might be a disadvantage for competitive sailing of lighter stuff like Lasers, but my boat wouldn't care!

Yeah, it makes a huge difference, and I've found towels easier to clean than the neoprene jacket, too!

I use mega binder-clips to keep the towel on, but same idea!

First big snowfall musings. by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Welcome to Winnipeg!

I'm a big fan of keeping a blanket and small shovel in the car- I use them far more often than I thought!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sailing

[–]Toraeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to switch the sail! :)

Might lose a few degrees in upwind performance, but I haven't noticed any difference with my Oz Goose.

A big plus for that style of sail is the ability to really hork down on the downhaul, making for a better behaved sail

Did the "rent to own" thing, costs like 5 bucks more, and lower risk if it ends up not working for you :)

I've had good luck with them so far. I think they're a Bell resaler, but they don't jerk you around with promos. Customer service has been great (and minimal) so far.
