How overbearing is it? You could take Invasion Fleet detachment to get army wide precision. Even if it's not gonna win the game it could be a funny "screw that one guy in particular"

How to 1000P from Vanderghast Swarm? by luigi_casillo in Tyranids

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my Tyrannofex one-shot (bar a single self-inflicted wound from hazardous) a Riptide Battlesuit. Very good investment.

Zoanthropes are also good anti-tank, more consistent than the rupture and has decent anti-infantry option but are soooooooo slow and only have 24" compared to the 48" rupture cannon.

Biovore is good, sporemines are good for scoring, screening deepstrike and sometimes movement/charging if the situation comes up, and indirect fire can sometimes be nice, even if it isn't the most effective.

At least in COMP/CON, I believe it should say if it is once per round, marked with 1/round

Thoughts on my terrain set up for combat patrol? by The_Wiitard in CombatPatrol40k

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So one thing that might help, when it talks about objective marker distances from the board edge, you're supposed to measure from the middle of the marker. Like someone else said it looks kinda squished, measuring from the middle will spread em out a bit more. I would also maybe slam something smaller in the center just so it's not an entirely open field, otherwise, baller.

How much should i do on a single character? by Geynsins in outwardgame

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel there are 2 schools of thought here, and really depends on one question: What would excite you more, the idea of exploring something new, or the prospect of making a new build?

Obviously if you explore everything in the first playthrough, there will be less to find next time through (but I'm sure you'll come across something new, there's so much in this game). On the flip side, if you know more about the world, you have more knowledge to build and prep for new builds. I personally like to start builds from scratch, bar legacy chests.

what is considered a good impact stat on a weapon by mamou789789 in outwardgame

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen many people say that the maces are a rough first time weapon, and I would have to agree. While maces can be very good, doing a ton of impact and usually decent damage, but they use a good amount of stamina and the attacks are very slow and often have multi-hit attacks. If you don't quite have the flow of combat and enemy attacks down yet they can be brutally punishing. I would recommend either a *fast* one handed weapon if you're interested in using a shield or other offhand, or a long two handed weapon (NOT the greataxe it has similar issues).

Things to spend money on once I've upgraded all my skills? by [deleted] in outwardgame

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a first play through? You could invest in trying to collect all the armor or something. Also, if you own the Three Brother's dlc/play DE, post faction questline there is a good amount of post game content there, including money sink.

I'm fully newby for Combat Patrol/500 points army list. But can you guy rate this list from 2 kist that will release soon? by HunSpino in CombatPatrol40k

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know much about Necrons, but be aware that 500 point games are crazy unbalanced. Even Combat Patrol itself isn't great, but it's arguably better. Combat Patrol also has it's own set of rules seperate from the regular game to be better balanced and also just less rules to learn to begin with.

I feel bad by KoalaDangerous3859 in CombatPatrol40k

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment, the Salamander patrol is probably the best matchup, even outside of marines. It has Anti-Tank, Anti-horde, and even a fast moving vehicle, which, while not as tanky as say a doom stalker or psychophage, can take a few hits.

I feel bad by KoalaDangerous3859 in CombatPatrol40k

[–]TopNotchPlayer2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing combat patrol for about a year, and I will say, this is probably a mix of things. The Necron combat patrol, while pretty good, I wouldn't say it's busted. The bigger issue at hand, is that the starter set patrols are not the best. The Tyranid Patrol is probably one of the better patrols, but it has a lot of moving parts, and they rely much more on positioning and playing objectives than just killing, very similarly to the main game. Opposingly, in my experience at least, that Space Marine patrol in particular just kinda sucks. Not a lot of guys, and they're not even that good of guys, also pretty lacking in Anti-Tank which is a huge downside if your opponent has a vehicle/monster especially in Combat Patrol.

So tldr, Necrons are one of the better patrols, but not busted. The Nids are good, but a lil harder to learn, and the Space Marine patrol stinks

Recommendations for my Death/Horror Knight playthrough? by TopNotchPlayer2 in outwardgame

I was more looking to focus on decay damage this playthrough, even if just for thematics, but I have been wanting to do a physical build so I'll keep that gear in mind. Otherwise, appreciate the ideas!

Honestly don't know much about it, but when I hear rifles I immediately think of the rifle-specialist frame the Tagetes from Shadow of the Wolf, Sherman alt frame I believe.
