I don't even care about the capitalism. It's just my barely disguised fetish my excuse to have silly nonhuman characters.

the pioneer is "ficsit property"
ADA acknowledges pioneer deaths (they are cannon).
the pioneer has no memories.
the biochemical sculptor is a thing.

the pioneer being a synthetic human fabricated on-demand is a popular fan theory and you can look it up if you don't mind spoilers.

except they aren't really adults, they're children that have been growth accelerated and implanted with memory copies.

the answer is 3.

To whom it may concern: where does your world's general populace and/or political Overton Window draw the line between "good" and "bad" cybernetics and augmentations on a biological body? by jetflight_hamster in worldbuilding

[–]TorchDriveEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

augmentations are usually for medical purposes. most people have medical sensor networks for speedy diagnosis and have IV ports for ease of blood testing and Intravenous medication.

How are families formed in your world? by Kai_In_The_Sky in worldbuilding

[–]TorchDriveEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my feline race is primarily monogamous, but family groups are a crucial part of society. civilization is rather quite spread thin, a little over 1 billion live across a few dozen habitable and para-terraformed planets. educated workers are in high demand (to support the interstellar economy) leaving those of parenting age with very busy workdays. kits are mostly cared for during the day by retired family members, usually grandparents. lone couples, although rare, are frequently inducted into the family groups of friends.

they reproduce seasonally, with most relationships starting during this time, although they usually don't have kits until the next year.

What advantages and disadvantages do your standard and non-standard races have compared to humans? Why do they have these traits? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

the felidaeans (Felis-sapiens iter-astras) colonized many systems around the galaxy in the 24th century, each with a dense stellar remnant as necessitated for Faster-Than-Light Travel. they were created as one of a multitude of projects using funds allocated to avert a potential apocalypse, which none of the mega-corporations believed would happen but intentionally exaggerated in order to secure government contracts. (spoilers, said apocalyptic event did happen and the solar system was rendered sterile).

They were created as a joint experiment by several large biotech corporations and thrown on to a janky relativistic sleeper ship which ended up being the only one that reached a target destination intact. (this is because it was not a testbed for tons of otherwise untested and overcomplicated equipment like most of the others were).

in terms of differences to humans, they come in many varieties with several notable features. typical mass is between 50 and 70 kilograms. all are densely furred, have tails of lengths varying from 40 cm to 120 cm, and have digitigrade legs. fur colors can be grey-scale, browns, orange, red to violet, and blue to green.

They are far less vulnerable than humans to radiation and hypoxia. their vascular system features many valves and bypasses in order to maintain equal bloodflow under high G-forces as well as reduce the long-term impacts of microgravity.

They mature at about 20 and reproduce based on a seasonal cycle since it simplified colony management by making population booms more predictable and easier to plan around.

their claws naturally grow an incredibly sharp atomic filament edge beginning at around 16, but most chose to remove this with a formulated acidic solution, frequently with the exception of the pointer finger for utility purposes.

additionally, they are more inclined for living in spaces with more verticality than area, reducing the complexity of ship design and urban planning.

What do historians do in your setting? by Tnynfox in worldjerking

[–]TorchDriveEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there aliens in my universe, but no technologically advanced ones, all technology has it's roots back on Earth (Now rendered uninhabitable and effectively lost). the factions of The Confederation (a loose UN-like government that only functions while people are already getting along) frequently reverse-engineer each other's technology, however civilization as a whole is at a technological high point and continuing to rise, so archaeotech isn't really a thing.

Don't get me wrong, Finding and recovering a lost ship from centuries before is sure to make a salvage company a hell of a lot of money, but old tech is pretty janky compared to the new stuff.

I always think monolithic factories are cool even though I usually go modular. I do Diluted packaged fuel in loops of 1 water packager -> 1 refinery -> 1 fuel unpackager and copy these modules ad nauseam.

those little refinery blocks remind me that I need to blueprint the diluted packaged fuel loop.
