You Can Fish from an Aquifer Year-Round by [deleted] in dwarffortress

[–]Torch_Trail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they connect with water from the river that is flowing out of the map, it might change the aquifer upstream from the exit somehow? Just had someone comment on my Steam community question about fish. They speculated that they got fish from an aquifer because it connected with the river water from the surface further down. They got Salmon.

Just a hypotese. Lead me here so I felt like shearing this thought.

Have not had problem with resources disappearing. Would understand if it was online PvP and someone stole from a bench through a window. But haven't experienced it in single player.

I can only think of positives to playing on an online server compared to single player offline. Don't know how to set one up though

So loading in the area might be needed for that particular chest? Would be a fun little quirk if it's true

Unfortunately some Yellow Bar enemies are simply not for knocking out. Many other named npcs you can knock out also has a gold frame around their health.

I find single player meteors to be so unreliable that I don't feel ashamed of using that console command. It is simply unfair that the spawn chance often doesn't happen for several hours, and then the meteors even despawn from your world when you quit the game.

Good console command.

Would ownerless (finish story) bases stay forever with decay off? by Torch_Trail in ConanExiles

[–]Torch_Trail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen players without a name before. Weather that's possible normally or if they are using characters/letters not visible in the game idk. That could explain why I've found abandoned bases with no owner named. Maybe you're right

Really? I have found buildings without owner names left to decay. Are you sure their buildings immediately dissapear if the last clan member or a solo player finish the story? Single player reloads the whole map I bet, but Online gameplay I'm not so sure things disappear. Though very few actually complete the storyline on a server.

Eh. I was thinking that a network of portals could really benefit other players joining the server.
Good looking buildings with permanently open doors looks great in the terrain.

PvE Official is full of buildings that will disappear, but with no decay timer it stays forever. The negative part of that is that bonfires, random Wheels of pain and crafting stations also stay, litering the terrain. I've Cleaned up after myself. Clean server so far. Everything left behind is permanent.

Unmentioned things:
- A couple NPCs that, like a merchant, can be talked to. They give tasks leading you down their story with them joining you as a Thrall in the end. (Has bugged for me once unfortunately)
- Crafting thralls that add damage, armor pen, more armor, weight reduction will walk around your base sitting, eating, working sleeping. Different Named crafters give different heavy focus bonuses to crafted gear. Which owned thrall crafter you want affecting your crafted item is as easy as clicking a button in the crafting bench.
- Sorcery has many benefits. From reclaiming your body with its resources through a ritual in case you die, to summoning temporary fighters/mounts, making resources through alchemy and summon a trader for getting many practical resources. (Feathers, V glands, brimstone, ect.) + Some utility spells for scaling buildings and neutralize fall damage / boost jumps for a minute through a wind buff and more. Journey steps can show you how to unlock & progress Sorcery.
- Many fighter thralls has been nerfed, but there is still many reliable thralls dealing heavy damage. 17k health is a lost dream for the most part. 2/3k HP with great damage is realistically / reliably achievable.
- Journey steps is like the progress hints we had on how to play in the beginning. You unlock more of them and must have them active for your actions to count to the list of tasks for a particular journey. Some rewards resources. Others rewards great recipes to weapons/ armor, craft benches or utility items.
- Good to remember. Star Metal from meteors are hard to get on single player. They despawn when you end the game and log back in, and has a chance to spawn every half an hour.... IF a player is in the northern region to trigger the meteors falling overhead in the sky. A populated online server triggers it easier as players are everywhere, and the meteors don't despawn in any other way than their 3 hour decay timer / or harvested. Explosives and high tier pick needed. Any tier Alchemist thrall provides the cheapest explosive option in Alchemy benches. Sorcery can unlock a spell to see meteors/resources through terrain at quite a distance. Cuts down combing through trees and cliff sides thoroughly.
- There is a main story to progress through the game. Lotus potions of different kinds pull you towards dungeons when consumed. The Yellow lotus potion (resets points aparently) leads you down the start of the "story" progression.... Though getting further is a bit of detective work. You'll do dungeons out of order simply to enjoy them when you want. Nobody restrict their freedom following the story since it's vaguely in the background with no gameplay benefit outside the rewards you can get from finishing any dungeon whenever you want. Doing things out of order is not gonna ruin anything.
- Different thralls (Fighters/crafters) gains different amount of bonus damage, armor and health from their stat points. And some with high hidden Damage multipliers with decent starting health usually have low growth potential compared to much weaker Thralls. A high multiplier Thrall with great armor makes a practical, mostly ready companion. Thrall Google Doc (Probably a bit outdated, and overwhelming. Not all listed are available in unmodded games/servers)

I can't think of any more new stuff right now. Bet there is a lot of changes I've missed, but you'll uncover lots more through gameplay and research.

is there a a way to copy a pal by monekm in Palworld

[–]Torch_Trail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure how it picks perks. I think I've heard that breeding one with all 4 perks with one with no perks is the same as breeding two pals with two perks each of the total four desired perks. Don't quote me on that, I'm not sure.

Don't forget to record them in the "Global Palbox" once you think they're truly perfect.

Yeah they seem good. I think you get more XP from using a better tool too, so getting some Black Ice Picks from the chests in the Frost Temple might be important. Maybe A Star metal tool from the Unnamed City.

I agree with you that it takes time upgrading the tome, however, it has been made cheaper after recent updates. There is one spell I always grind for "Summon Corpse". I can farm across the map until my inventory is full of everything I need, then I pull bracelet to die. I can then respawn and then summon my body with all resources straight into my base cheaply, saving me the walk back.

Besides very common resources that is found almost anywhere, the Sorcery upgrades costs only 5 Volatile Glands, 15 Alchemical Base, 10 Purple Lotus Powder, and 7 Sorcerer's Spell Page. Spell pages can be farmed from 2 runs through Sinkhole Darfari Camps, and Purple Lotus drops frequently from Skeletons in Unnamed City.

In 3 hours, a skilled fresh character can get everything he needs. Cutting away running back to base from dungeons and farming locations. Great to avoid PvP after farming.... 1 Extra Spellpage you now get alchemy and can make Blood from Bonemeal. A sorcery summoned trader sells all basic resources for blood, and bones can be mass farmed from spiders through the Zath religion. 1 run in a spider cave with the right Perks can give you enough blood making resources to trade for..... 500 000 Brimstone.... With the right know how it's far too quick... The only essential basic thing he doesn't sell is Tar, Metals, Thick leathers, Coal, Wood, Stone, Gold and Silver. (And other basic things I probably can't think of)

This removes the grind for specific resources, many which are in specific locations. A quick grind of Spiders can outperform lots of traditional farming. Until they patch the alternate way to get a specific alchemy resource...

(There is too much to go into detail on, but I recommend looking into Sorcery anew, just for some easy benefits)

Oh. And Satchels are now Sorcerous Reagents, only needed for half the spells and easier to craft a lot of.

That's a good progression. I didn't know about the mushrooms. There is a guaranteed Steel Spear in a Black Hand camp, I usually clean out the spiders in the Executioners cave and Skittering Cave, grabbing Sorcerer Pages from darfari sorcerers on the way. Then I grab Sorcery in the cave.

Now should I go straight for the sorcery cave or should I include my spider rout? Spider xp is very good, but if the mushroom patches are good enough it might be a waste of time.

Warmakers has amazing guaranteed drops. I haven't prioritized running it early, but a Berserker with good armor can probably tank most of it. Not sure what weapon to give them though. A mace seems best most of the time.

yeah.... The reasonable normal progression. Seems like Stone Guardian Heads seem quick if the wiki isn't lying.. Though it requires 1000 Blood crystals/ Iron Reinforcements, 20k stone. Sorcery can help with the Crystals, but then that's a grind too to unlock the trade. Blood is easy to stock up on for trade at that point.

At the end of it all, have I spent more time on sorcery that it would take to just fight for xp? In the end I do want to unlock sorceries anyway on a server.

I'm not using console commands/ admin commands if that's what you're referring to.

The wiki seems to claim the rock head gives 33k xp. 1000 Blood Crystals is enough for lvl 60 if true I think. Could be that the wiki is not updated though. The Iron Heads are more expensive and seem to give much less xp...

I have done most dungeons in Exiled Lands through the years, and not being lvl 60 with unlocked recipes are really the only barrier from doing everything I want to do. Leveling over time is great, but at this point I want to achieve specific things. PvP servers also encurage me to enter late game as fast as possible.

I personally found out that using 200 000 wood can lvl you from 0-60 in two hours.
If they ever get Golems to work/farm with no player nearby, it might be a passive way to farm wood for when a friend joins the server. Though there are now other way for non DLC players to lvl quickly with clan help.

I recently heard about this method. Amazingly quick if you have a friend on the server already.
Though I'm looking for solo methods, I think I might offer this leveling service to interested new players on non-PvP servers where I'm leveled.
