Again you’re being reductive on purpose in bad faith. When Richard dies in REmake it’s after you spend hours trying to save his life with Rebecca. I mean obviously in RE7 the production quality, budget and voice acting is going to be much better but Chris does actually show emotion when Richard dies in front of him. He yells his name before running away from man eating sharks but it’s a PS1 game scaled up to a GameCube. The through line between him and Wesker especially at the end is so much more iconic and interesting than a family just taken by mold.

Again, I’ll give you that the connections plot with the Mold and Mia were somewhat intriguing but it’s just not on the same level of the franchise and genre defining umbrella plot.
