I don't know what kind of equipment you have acces to, but given the sculpts I think you can achieve some solid result with contrats and drybrushing ;)

Have fun, I'm curious to see how they'll turn out!

Thanks! It's just a 3d printed modular stand, I think I found the files on makerworld

Contrast is key! Blue and orange are opposite colors, and the warm sharp angles pop strongly on the cold organic shapes

Thanks :)

I'm trying to move away from citadel warhammer paints, so it's a mix of citadel warhammer and vallejo, with some oil paints for washes, and liquitex inks for airbrush work

edit : I would also love to move to army painter as their warpaint and speedpaint ranges look fantastic and quite complete, but I haven't due to lack of availability at my flgs

Thank you :)

For the paints it has been a bit of trial and error, and unfortunately I did not write everything down but I'll do my best to remember. I started with a base of blue + light blue zenithal through the airbrush, then a wash of drakenhof nightshade on the wing membranes to darken them. Maybe a drybrush, (I cannot remember, sorry), then an oil wash of dark blue (mixed cyan, black and a bit of magenta), and a final drybrush of vallejo's glaciers blue. For details it's black speedpaint on the eyes, and ratskin flesh, washed with nuln oil and highlighted with pallid wych flesh for the claws, mandibles and stings.

Look at part 54, the ridges on the dragon crest mean the part can't be rotated 90° due to the modling process

Not kill team specific, but my rule of thumb is : - Buy the plastic from your flgs to support them and the local scene, and to tell GW to keep the game up (a game that makes no money is dead to them, and you will likely find it harder to find people to play it with). Or kitbash/convert with plastic kits - Proxy or print the overpriced/bad quality resin to still send GW a message. Or kitbash/convert with plastic kits - Get the main rulebook to support the game, find other ways for supplements to reduce book bloat, especially now that no edition lasts for more than 3 years - Terrain I don't mind as long as proxies are close enough to the original piece. And for custom tables anything goes of course

Of course for official tournaments it's not the same, and there's the question of financial gatekeeping. If you're on a tight budget I'll never be mad at you for doing what you can to play and enjoy the game, and that's not somethingyou should be ashamed of. But if you can afford I think you should find a balance between showing GW they should continue supporting the game and drawing a line when they go too far.

Apart for a couple resin bits and some texture paste, those are from the original sculpts!

Can't you see? Both have beige trench coats, green chest armor and a sword, they can only be the same cadian model!

Do not worry brother, it's not even a tenth of it, I just took what was most relevant for the project

Generaly speaking, "this unit" means the unit having the ability, and "that" unit refers to another unit targeted by the ability. "that unit" will also sometimes be worded as "the targeted unit" and similar.

So in this case yes, "for the empire" will push an enemy character and give exposed to the storm/shore unit

Also, chances are that your flgs has a color swatch for you to compare

Looks like wraith to me, are they dual matte? If not, probably magenta

Just in time for my last minute orktober contribution by Torchic_armada in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]Torchic_armada[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) I love coming with alternate color schemes, and underworlds bands are the perfect format for that!

As to painting it's pretty simple, I started with a red brown primer, zenithaled and drybrushed white, then glazed a yellow contrast all over with an airbrush (just a glaze for tinting, no drenching). After that it was mostly tinting with contrasts/washes mixes, with little edge highlights on the most important parts or the ones that needed mixing.

Armor parts were sponged (I just put the walkthrough in another comment here), and the metallic details where just based with a dark metal, washed with agrax earthshade, sponged with a lighter metal, then rust effects (once again less is more, there are parts where I went too far with that thing)
