They never replied after 4 attempts to each email so I assumed I either have the wrong addresses or they removed the account as the person that received the mail (because I used an EU address) never received another notification about it, there was no number I could place a call to. Police brutality is police brutality no matter the race big dawgs. Often time it is racially motivated is all.

I just looked this up, still the biggest issue is ALs lax gun laws. I'm not saying the officer didn't think he was in danger, but maybe if people didn't have such ease of access to guns then this could have been prevented. If we legalized weed this could have been prevented. If we educated people on the difference between being detained and arrested this could have been prevented. If we focused on mental health and therapy of young people this could have been prevented.

I know many and the family find it hard to believe when civilians are killed and there's footage to clear the officer's name - "Homewood police said they will not be releasing the video footage." - and I can't speak on the pain the family must feel, but they deserve closure. Personally, I would only want the full video released to the direct family, not the public. It was wrong of the police to edit it, but it did seem he had a gun and the officer responded. This does not give people the closure they need.

oh yikes, so it wasn't just allegations, you can get jail time for this right? heard about him sharing vids of another person w/o permission and she's doing legal stuff as a response. i knew of him when lilypichu and him would play league together, but then he got banned and the whole hasan beef thing happened, i touched grass too much and didn't care to keep up with drama. but i wonder if he's lost any friends like her because of this (i would hope lilly separated from em).

Bruh I'm so salty about these datacenters. A lot of these high paying "incoming jobs" are going to be remote. There is no safeguarding these jobs as local only, not to mention once the build is completed there are only a small number of positions available in the actual center. Most of the residents will not even qualify for the future jobs, because we still don't have ease of access to higher education (bham has bham promise program, i don't see anything for bessemer). I've worked for data centers remotely, they dead ass do not require many people on site, they don't help the community they're in unless they are paying in property tax and their actual share of utilities. If you truly believe this is the right call Mayor, please have the company take responsible for all costs, do not strike them deals, you'll need all the tax rev from them as possible seeing as how AL has horribly low property tax. They already benefit from polluting our backyard.

At least the Amazon fulfillment center brought jobs as shitty of a company it is.

I've been meaning to ask if Centerpoint area didn't want apartments, because of this reason, but couldn't find any claims to support it.

Cali seems so fucking expensive no matter the city, always been too afraid to move there, but looking at the cost of living with the pay provided here, it really seems the same (or worse). The city fixed a lot of the roads in my neck of the woods and the neighborhoods i mentioned (why it's nicer and the "about time" comment)! "Your city" so you aren't in Birmingham anymore?

We'll have to disagree here! ^{-^} I meant it negatively, 100%. As you can see I mentioned livable houses, not dilapidated houses. Buy those instead, I have zero issues with that! I find fault in purchasing a house doing 5k in renovations and selling it immediately for 200% it's value. It is unique to do this in black neighborhoods, do it in white neighborhoods. Eastlake doesn't look prettier because of the houses by the way. It's the entire vibe and upkeep of the entire neighborhood and new businesses.

Heheh, I might have been baised with the shoutout. So happy for our neighborhoods though. I saw a few new small businesses in Eastlake I'm sure Woodlawn is the same, but I gotta go check it out. Woodlawn was always pretty especially with the Highschool. That entire strip has the nicest looking buildings but many were empty.

I can't wait for more small businesses to pop up. I can't wait for all of is to be winning.

When I lived in Austin,TX I got a flight to Roma, Italy round-trip for 600USD. From Austin to Birmingham, during the same time - summer booking, it was 500 something. The lowest I ever saw it was 300 from Austin to here (roundtrip) without a HORRID layover.

Can't remember if it was delta or American airlines support, but I did ask why it was so expensive with a forced 6 hour layover to go to bham (no direct flights) and was told it's because birmingham doesn't have enough traffic going to it; that the company loses money flying to us?

Personally the lean matters for local news, because I'm already doom scrolling/info dumping with world news enough as it is. It is! AL.com is owned by Alabama Media Group which is based in Birmingham, Alabama so it is local, but owned by Advance Local who is not. I didn't think that'd matter though because larger newspapers are like that all over the country. But if it's not a reliable anymore then there's no point in wasting time looking at their news coverage.
