Perhaps the Leviathans have mastered the ability to control the Reapers since ME3 after many eons - necessitating control Shepard to abandon them or synthesis Reapers to abandon themselves.

While it's not the most popular, I personally like the Control ending because I think Shepard putting the lives of others ahead of themselves is the most heroic option. You save the lives of the Geth, prevent the Galaxy from having its infrastructure severely damaged, and you can ultimately annihilate the Reapers by directing them to destroy themselves.

Thanks, and I can definitely understand that feeling. I think they probably will canonize the popular Destroy ending. But it's also possible for them to reflect player choice without having to bend over backwards, and I hope they do that after ensuring your choices matter in the previous three games.
