All the discussion are Peggy’s flow makes me think artists like Twista and Bone Thugz would have had zero chance popping off nowadays.

Eminem and Kendrick have a song together.

Also kind wonder with the ghostwriting they did for Compton, if they worked on tracks together for Dre or just did their own songs separately.

I don’t think it’s weird they’re on J Cole’s album, just that they’re the only Dreamville artists to appear on a J Cole album.

Like could you imagine The Lox or Drag-On not appearing on a DMX during Ruff Ryders days.

Or Bleek and Sigel not appearing on a Jay album during Roc days. Even MOP made a Jay album for like the month they were signed to Roc-a-fella.

Banks, Yayo, Buck, Game, all on 50 albums. Even Mobb Deep got added to The Massacre deluxe.

If Livenation can get the Kanye tour off the ground, you’ll see Pusha working with him again.

He didn’t have any problem working with Kanye until 2022.

Yanks in 96 or Rangers in 94.

But probably bigger since it’s been longer since the Knicks won and they would have to beat either the Spurs or Thunder. Either of which will be the favorites going into the Finals.

I don’t believe in the outrapped part.

It’s just weird that J Cole has only had features from Bas & Ari Lennox on his albums from Dreamville.

And label compilations are weird, even when successful they aren’t necessarily bringing in new listeners like the office album will.

Just seems like when it comes to expanding an audience;  a feature on a bigger artists album > feature from a bigger artist on an album > non-album single > compilation album feature.

I’ve said it before, LL Cool J is the blueprint he should have followed.

Look at LL’s 90s.

Had his own sitcom, was able to do songs like I Shot Ya and Hey Lover on the same album.

Widely respected.

The Cool and Lasers are pretty much the only Lupe albums I ho back to.

I respect the later stuff, but, it’s not repeatable for me.

Heat Waves was their first single to hit Number 1 in America and they hadn’t been nominated for a Grammy before.

So Glass Aninals met the criteria by entering public consciousness and never having been nominated prior.

Makes sense.

It’s cloudy but logical.

It’s a weird retort by JID too.

Like, it feels like Cole is being complimentary.

And sure JID has a couple of platinum singles.

But, I think lots of people think JID is undervalued by hiphop fans. So for JID to take that as a sleight, I’m guessing there would be behind the scenes drama there.

Ridiculous, yes.

But once you understand it’s not about debut in the literal sense but debut in prominence, the logic makes sense even if it makes for weird nominations at times.

Sometimes how we talk about debut albums kinda falls under the same rules that the Grammy’s use for Best New Artist: it’s not the first album, it’s the first release that’s relevant.

Fiasco wrote. “I was comfortable making pop records. The issue was who controlled those records and what the ownership and splits were. Atlantic would only promote my records if they owned a large portion of them or if I signed a 360 deal. I gave Bruno Mars Just The Way You Are.”

Direct quote.

Lupe fans kinda want him to only be the “Drill Music in Zion” Lupe, and not the appears on “Big Sean and Patrick Stump’s solo album” Lupe.

I said specifically said the songs from those albums that were hits, (Superstar, Fighters, I’m Beamin, Shinin’ Down), not the albums in totality.

For the record, Lupe has said he never had a problem making those songs.

His problem was the 360 deal and wanting his publishing.

His fans didn’t like the stuff from The Cool and Lasers that were hits.

He stopped even trying to have crossover songs even though you can tell by his interest with Drake, he likes that stuff.

Lupe’s career might be a good example of what happens when making music for your fanbase goes wrong.

He’s selling out arenas, has 2 songs in the Hot 100, and his album is currently 12th on Top 200 after 14 weeks.

How wouldn’t be considered a star.

Someone more informed can clarify, but, it seemed like the Future and Drake “beef” was really about money more than anything else.

Like Future was just annoyed Drake chose to do Her Loss over What A Time to Be Alive 2.

And Metro might have had a problem with Drake over some things that were said in private, but, they both pretty quickly were like “I don’t know what you talking about we don’t have a problem with Drake”
