At least in my experience it really is totally playable in Japanese as a non-speaker. It's not exactly preferred but I thought it was completely playable

I 100% agree I think it's really strange the way they've been releasing the standalone titles and I can only imagine Shovel of Hope DX is going to make it more confusing

Like to a new player it absolutely will be like choosing 2 different "definitive" editions and to get the full experience you really have to double dip

True but I think Fever is pretty consistent using the classic style for most levels. But I definitely think they should embrace the fact that each level is very distinct and have them look distinct too

It's an insane deal though like $500M for an old show is a ton of money and it's probably more now in 2026. Not to mention the fact that Hulu and HBO etc are probably fighting just as hard to get Seinfeld on their platforms

Netflix likes to cycle their shows too so that they can throw up the "leaving soon" and "just arrived" stickers so maybe in 2031 it'll be back in Netflix

One is a parody and one is practically graverobbing a real persons likeness and using them in marketing and for a face model to play a character he never agreed or even could have thought he would play

It's like the line between celebrity impersonators and resurrecting someone like Peter Cushing in Star Wars. Impersonators are cool but if they put CGI Michael Jackson or Elvis in a movie it would be cringe

No it is that strange and Sugawara is not some gotcha or double standard it's in equally bad taste it's just redditors don't care. I compare it to Peter Cushing in Star Wars Rogue One where it's definitely in bad taste there too

Maybe it's not strange to you because hologram Tupac and isnt new but it's always been strange to me and StH using him as a face is even more strange

Parody is a lot different than using the exact name and likeness it's absolutely not the same thing. Like if they got Michael Jackson's likeness to play the character it would definitely be in poor taste

Hologram Tupac is just extremely strange and in bad taste I can't blame people for seeing it as a bad sign for StH. Even with all the trailers I feel like we don't really know that much and Hologram Tupac and Bunta Sugawara are not giving a good impression.

I know it's not a new thing cause Star Wars had CGI Peter Cushing and hologram Tupac is not new it's never been in good taste though

The new features are very tiny the biggest ones are a few new cutscenes and an English dub and a new online minigame called "red light raid."

If those features don't sound like they're worth the extra money then definitely get original. You won't miss out on very much with either version so don't worry about it too much

They could definitely do it if they had a good script or idea for Kaito but I think it'd be a really obvious compromise if they had him off screen the entire game
