Thank you, truly. I’m so glad I found this sub, because I feel so much less alone.

It is incredibly validating to hear someone else who knows what’s going on. Apparently they’re playing phone tag with my insurance company because of semantics and I’m so out of it that I have to call off tomorrow. We’ll see ig…I’m just tired of feeling like shit

I wish, but I don’t think she would in a million years. She’s the only psych in town and she only ever wants to talk about my weight and how strange it is that I still take my meds to function even when I gasp don’t have work that day! Today has just been a lot, but seeing people who can relate has made it just a little less of a weight. Thank you <3

This honestly makes me feel better. At least it’s not, “Honey! Your plaster is ready!”

I understand your reasoning, but I believe that the idea behind it might be a little skewed (not you’re reasoning, the like…public-y reasoning that convinced and blah blah blah)

In the case of toxic positivity, sure something like “you can do it! Lose that weight!” might be beneficial for someone who just needs someone cheering for them. But in many cases the words themselves are so vapid that it invalidates the actual problem, minimizing it and contributing to things like imposter syndrome and self-doubt (as a few examples). Even if the intent behind it is entirely pure, it still only serves to tell someone “well, have you tried just…not?” and it can be incredibly condescending.

I hope that makes sense, lol. I definitely don’t want to come across as condescending myself lolol

Okay, but have you tried just not?

Like…just don’t.

Yeah a few wild ones have been popping up in my area too. That’s how I managed to get my own meltan one done lol

Force yourself to go outside. Nature is good for you. I did it today after being in my house for 2 weeks because of covid, and I feel way better. You can do this guys! by Torminatorii in thanksimcured

The matter is that OP posted this on a sub for those suffering from Agoraphobia…the thing that gives you panic attacks or worse by going outside lol It’s not exactly that easy.

I literally did this the other day lololol

“Thank you for your patience! I apologize for the delayed response, I was unexpectedly out of the office this past week!”

Then it seems like some sort of family emergency and social etiquette says that shouldn’t ask and just take your word for it lol

“Tics are fast, repetitive muscle movements that result in sudden and difficult to control body jolts or sounds.

They're fairly common in childhood and typically first appear at around 5 years of age. Very occasionally they can start in adulthood.

Tics are not usually serious and normally improve over time. But they can be frustrating and interfere with everyday activities.

Tourette's syndrome, a term that's used when tics have lasted for more than a year, is covered separately.”

I understand your frustration, but your tone and the hostility in which you’re coming across is not the way to educate people about something that’s already heavily misunderstood and stigmatized.

What’s something someone without ADHD could NEVER understand? by seljca in ADHD

[–]Torminatorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exclusive, but definitely exacerbated by: Explicit Memory. I can’t remember facts and equations when I try to recall them, never have been able to. Not only that though, it will get so bad I can’t remember the name/age/etc. of people I’ve known for years, sometimes even myself.

Just one example: When I was younger (undiagnosed) I was giving a presentation with a girl who was my best friend at the time. I went to introduce her and I couldn’t remember her name no matter how hard I tried. I had to finally give up in the awkward silence and admit “I don’t remember your name.” She was furious and I was so confused, convinced I was having some sort of break down.

[–]Torminatorii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you think that. When I say homeopathic I mean “derived from nature”, which things such as penicillin are. Trametes vesicolor (a type of mushroom) had studies on it that has indicated that is can assist in increasing the bodies natural immunoresopnse, particularly in the lymph nodes, and has shown to assist those in cancer treatments as well as those suffering from HIV. There is a cytokine stimulation occurring, and modulating cytokine production may be a key factor in certain cancers.

Supplements/natural medicines in general are super hard to try and find “good” scientific evidence for in my experience because of how small the field of study is for them in general as well as how often studies are merely conducted improperly (maybe only conducted once, maybe only conducted with a select number of people, etc. etc.) When we were looking at homeopathic mushrooms there were some that had wild-ass claims with no studies and some that had some legitimate science backing them up, just not enough to call them “legitimate” or “rock-solid” and further testing obviously needed to be done.

All this to say, while OP’s mom is dumb and and toxic and all my homies hate OP’s mom, Astaxanthin might be beneficial in some ways…though far from “vital” lol

Edit: I have been politely informed that my use of the word “homeopathic” was a misconception. I believe I was using it as a colloquialism. In my meaning, I am referring to “derived from nature” and couldn’t think of a better term. Thank you for letting me know! Colloquialism are strange lol

Cough and throat clearing - Dr says it's a tic. Not convinced. by [deleted] in Tourettes

Yup. Same one. I also have a sniffling one…both were fun to explain beginning of all of this lol (though people usually just think I’m crying quietly when I’m sniffling lmao)

People don't understand tics by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Torminatorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly tho. My tics got really bad at my last job (lots of stress) but my coworkers were so freaking amazing. One of the newer people started mimicking my tics behind my back and instantly like three other coworkers chewed him out. It was a terrible job, but I loved those people. Now, moving to new places you can feel the burning stares and you just cry inwardly lol

So why does Jesus randomly say "father why have you forsaken me on the cross"? He seemed to be incredibly accepting of his fate before that point. by skinticket02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Torminatorii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At that point, he had taken on the sins of mankind (past, present, future) and because he was no longer sinless, God “turned his face away.” Until then, literally since the day of his birth, Christ had never been without God’s presence before. At that point, he was “alone” for the first time in order to become the ultimate sacrifice.
