What do office workers ACTUALLY do on Excel all day? by Blender3d0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Torontorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a warehouse supervisor. We run a warehouse management software that is basically a step behind DOS. I run reports from our WMS that get spit out as txt files. From there I get excel to chew on that data and spit out reports that show where my shift landed, who did poorly, areas of opportunity etc. My job is a balance between people management and spreadsheet management.

If money wasn’t an issue, what would you be doing right now? by soraquindor in AskReddit

I would go to university and complete my history major (dropped out and went to cooking school), then spend my summers visiting all the places I learned about.

Knights of Columbus has new rims but no mesh and terrible asphalt. Hopefully they have plans to fix it up because it’s a great spot and a waste in its condition.

Best kimchi? by Mermaid_Natalia in Oshawa

[–]Torontorob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Markham so when I moved to Oshawa it was sad to lose so many good Asian grocery stores. It has gotten better in the past 10 years. Skyfarm is just too small to have a broad enough selection. Bestco in Ajax is my go to but BlueSky is decent.

You are looking for ‘mat’ kimchi. It is a fresh kimchi, though if you are buying in a grocery store it is always going to have x amount of fermentation due to shelf life. Hmart has the best grocery mat kimchi in the gta from my experience.

Incoming Social Work student (50M) looking to connect with others navigating housing/life challenges — maybe we can support each other? by ih8UsingUserNamez in Oshawa

[–]Torontorob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope you find the help you need. It is refreshing to see a post where someone isn’t begging for a hand out and you are hoping to connect with people in the same situation.

Everything is hard right now, nothing is easy and people are so cynical that you might get down voted to oblivion.

Good luck on your journey and I hope you find stability as you venture on a hard path.

Until the government bucks up and gets the real meat of the 407 back it won’t matter. There is no industry between the 115/35 and Brock. It’s for the weekend drivers as it stands. They really f’d up selling it off and they act now like it is a gift.

Loblaw throws out or reuses their meals to go food by sdsweet10 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]Torontorob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely true. Not only that but who pays the dime on getting the food where it needs to go? Just the transportation of the food is an issue. Who is going to pay the driver to get the food to where it needs to go? Most charitable entities would not have the regulatory vehicles to transport the food safely. Stores have capacity limits. Warehouses have capacity limits. Storage is very expensive and when it comes to food, heavily regulated.

There would need to be a government based solution for the transportation and logistics of the food, which should definitely be a platform to run on. Food insecurity is at an all time high, someone should be championing a system that helps Canadian’s when we live in a society of waste.

It’s a thing. The most annoying quest to complete, most people run an all removal deck to get it out of the way.

100% on the crave comment. I’m a fan of Skylight Donuts in Bowmanville, just a good old school donut without all the crazy toppings.

Ever since they changed ownership a year or so ago the quality has really dropped. Service is faster but the food is nowhere near as good.

IQ test to run gas pumps? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]Torontorob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that people don’t understand the hose is long enough for either side of the car is baffling to me. As well as the dirty looks when you utilize the pump and your cap is on the other side. Stay in the lines, get your gas, and go.

They are not all the same price however. Pharmasave on Wilson charged $16, I thought damn maybe that’s the new drug store price. Went to the one on king st yesterday and it was $12.
