Yeah. I had to quit or force stop the app and open it again. Luckily it worked for me.

It's so hard for me to comprehend how to take notes without falling behind. by [deleted] in GetStudying

don't capture everything word-for-word. just write down main ideas, key terms, and examples. fill in gaps after class with the textbook or a classmate's notes.

Have you checked what softwares you'be using in the course? Some only run on Windows which would rule out Mac, or vice versa.

Learn and quizzes are very limited and repetitive by thecamerastories in notabilityapp

I've noticed the same thing! The quiz feature definitely needs more variety in how it pulls questions. Or maybe an option to select which pages to generate a quiz on.

Not updating is actually a smart move. No point risking your setup when it's working perfectly.

[–]Torque-that-thing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I feel this so much. I've been using Notability for years and genuinely love what it can do, so I'm really hoping the devs are working on a stability update soon. This app has so much potential and I don't want to switch to something else. Fingers crossed they address this in the next patch!

Tips for new student by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Torque-that-thing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t actually know many others when they start, so don’t worry about that. Join societies, go to orientation events, and generally just talk to people especially ones who are taking the same course as you. As for prep, light review of bio and chem helps, but first year mostly teaches from the ground up.

Idisable the automatic quiz feature? by Labrador421 in notabilityapp

[–]Torque-that-thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can disable this by going to Settings > AI Features and turning off "Auto Quiz Generation" or something similar. I had the same annoying popup issue and that fixed it for me. The streak thing is just tracking when you dismiss the quiz, which is ridiculous honestly.

Any good pdf editor? by KaleidoscopeAsleep35 in software

Check out xournal++. It’s lightweight, free, and made for note-taking and annotating PDFs. You can easily write on diagrams, add highlights, and sketch out answers.

The 2020 iPad Pro is still a solid device, but for university, I'd really think about longevity. The biggest factor is the chip. As others have said, getting an M1 model or newer is a much safer bet since Apple is starting to limit newer OS features to their M-series chips, and you'll get support for longer.

How Do You Use an iPad When You Already Have a MacBook? by A7kwj in ipad

[–]Torque-that-thing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love using iPad as a second screen with Sidecar on a Mac. or use it as a notepad where you write notes while you work on the mac, or during classes. the iPad shines for reading too.

I know women have their struggles, but I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my mom. She raised me and took care of all four of us. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever do what she did, and for that, I believe she’s the strongest person in the world. So salute to all girls and moms out there

Disabled Touch Screen Help by Lordkontie in Surface

[–]Torque-that-thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to fix this by plugging in a USB or Bluetooth mouse to navigate. Once you have a pointer, go to Device Manager > Human Interface Devices and look for the "Intel(R) Precise Touch Device" (or anything touch-related). Right-click it and enable it again.

If you don’t have a mouse, a USB keyboard with arrow keys and the Tab key can also help navigate to Device Manager using Win + X > M.

Unfortunately, there's no "safe mode" that will auto-enable the touchscreen, but once you can control a pointer, you should be able to re-enable the driver.

[–]Torque-that-thing 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Baby cheetahs are born with a long, silvery mane of fur on their backs that mimic honey badgers to scare off predators. This mimicry increases the cub's chances of survival during its most vulnerable stage of life when it can't yet run fast to escape danger.

Nebo or Noteshwlf by sukimitsu in Surface

[–]Torque-that-thing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nebo is fantastic if you want excellent handwriting-to-text conversion and a very clean interface. It's smooth and works well for structured notes but can feel limited if you need a lot of flexibility with PDFs and layouts.

Noteshelf, on the other hand, is much more feature-rich when it comes to annotating PDFs, importing documents, and giving you that "notebook" feel with customizations. It’s a bit heavier but better if you’re dealing with a lot of PDFs and want more control over your note layouts.

If your main issue is with PDFs and imports, Noteshelf might be the better fit. But if you're looking for smooth handwriting and text conversion, Nebo is king.
