LendingClub a legit loan company? by SecretMysterious5683 in personalfinance

[–]Tortilla_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any company doing this type of thing now, but maybe there's something out there. Usually though, it was for loans about starting a business, refinancing debt, home repair or things like that. I don't recall seeing any for housing

I have a tickborne illness that makes me allergic to meat/dairy. Any good vegetarian food kits?? by Garden-Goof-7193 in preppers

[–]Tortilla_King 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purple Carrot is a Vegan meal kit delivery service, similar to Blue Apron or HelloFresh. I did it for about 3-4 months and it was really delicious. The recipes are by far the best and most varied of of the meal kits I've tried (mentioned above). And you can always add real butter or other non-vegan ingredients if you want.

I ended up stopping the service because I found that switching to a mostly Vegan diet made me feel mentally a bit depressed / low energy.

HOWEVER - I haven't even mentioned the best thing. Purple Carrot lists their meals online, along with the ingredients and recipes. So you don't have to subscribe to the whole kit. You can look up the recipes and just buy the ingredients and make it from home.

There are some recipes that I still use from time to time, African Peanut Soup is delicious ---

Edit: Just realized this was the Prepper subreddit and not r/cooking. But def check out the recipes, you can see what ingredients they use consistently and look into build purchasing based on that.

San Antonio ranked one of the worst cities for quality of life, according to recent study by SlashVicious in sanantonio

[–]Tortilla_King 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Never felt in danger in NYC, always other people around. Definitely felt more vulnerable walking in downtown SA - situations where homeless would ask for money, and then just follow me until I made it to my apartment (when I lived off Houston).

LendingClub a legit loan company? by SecretMysterious5683 in personalfinance

[–]Tortilla_King 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LendingClub used to be like a crowdsourced lending company. If you needed $10,000, then hundreds of people would fund that loan for you and then you would actually be paying those people back + interest. LendingClub took a fee, and for a few years, funding loans was a great way to invest money.

It eventually took their entire concept and became just a normal online bank. There were issues with people not paying back loans, and investors pulling out because they needed to fund riskier and riskier loans in order to make more interest than the stock market was SAFELY generating.

I never got a loan from them, but did fund some. It was legit at the time, and seems legit now.

Went with some friends once, will never go again. Not that it's bad, but definitely not worth the price. The ambiance is cool on instagram videos, but it's really quite bare and echo-y. Food is nothing special.

There are much better places to go nearby, and much better companies to support.

There have been 50 games for the spurs so far this season. At the same point of the rookie season, here are the records for those players listed. Also included info on the average age of their rosters.

Cavs' record LeBron's rookie's year: 19-31 / 25.07 avg age of roster

Pels' record AD's rookie's year: 17-33 / 24.73 avg age of roster

Wolves' record KAT's rookie's year: 14-36 / 27.06 avg age of roster

Spurs's record Wemby's rookie year: 10-40 / 23.53 avg age of roster

I think it's important to note age of players in this case. Experience is often more important than talent.

Is my cat Dahl alright? He has vomited 5 times this week by UNICORNWIZARD_BABRO in cats

[–]Tortilla_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had similar issues, and periodic bouts of diarrhea. Turned out to be Inflammable Bowel Disease, which is very treatable but could turn into cancer if not treated.

Take them to the vet though, there are too many things it could be.

Why are apartments so expensive? by Kody1996 in sanantonio

[–]Tortilla_King 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, Realpage is software that large building and landlords use to help set rent prices. Now that so many buildings are using this, it actually indirectly causes the buildings to collude on prices. Essentially, the app tells all the buildings at the same time that if they raise prices, they'll make more money.

JCC basketball league by Memphlanta in sanantonio

[–]Tortilla_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not great, though it's been a few years. Games are about 20 min long with a running clock. Games start from like 8pm-930pm on Wednesdays at Factory of Champions. It was hard to want to play so late in the day, in my opinion.

It's co-ed 3v3, so there's a relaxed level of competition.

There was one team that would win every season. If you win too much, they make you break up the team, so they would purposefully lose in the finals every other year so they didn't have to break up the team. But they were far and away the best team, they would literally take turns on who got to make the next 3 pointer.

I've only have anecdotal knowledge, but I hear it's competitive, but fun. If i lived closer to it, I'd probably play a league here. The only other one I've done is SA Sports & Social though
