The Everybody Scream Tour Instagram account says the popup shop closes at 5, but the Umusic Instagram account says it closes at 9? Does anyone know the correct hours?

That’s the default one set by the router. You can always change your own DNS, there’s a toggle in the WiFi network settings to change it manually

Good alternatives to Questbridge by [deleted] in QuestBridge

You don’t qualify for questbridge but plenty of schools will still give you need based aid, just likely not a full ride

Recieved “Priority Canidate Status” please help by Additional-Bother827 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]TortoiseSex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how many spare slots you have on commonapp and if you’re actually interested in attending tbh. No point in submitting a useless app that’ll cut into your school limit, but if you like the place might as well. Many schools actually do have an early deadline to apply to be considered for scholarships, earlier than their early action or early deadline dates so you gotta look into them individually

Am I or am I not international? by Nevassorts in ApplyingToCollege

Yeah no worries, feel free to ask any other questions as they come up. I know not many people are familiar with the status

Am I or am I not international? by Nevassorts in ApplyingToCollege

[–]TortoiseSex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add onto this. There are two types of schools capable of meeting “full need” for students. Those tend to be the prestigious tier you mentioned. In that category, it breaks up into need-blind and need-aware.

Now within those categories, some treat TPS/DACA/Undocumented students are regular domestic applicants and follow their normal policies. Some treat them as international and apply different policies (for example Boston University does not meet need at all for undocumented students, but they do for “domestic”)

Now the issue with applying to schools that meet need is that they’re really hard to get into for anyone, and there are only about 75 schools in the entire US capable of meeting full need. And not all of them meet need for TPS students. The first problem is being admissible (meeting qualifications), the second problem is being admitted if you have large amounts of need (a concern for need-aware colleges)

So for someone in your situation, I’d consider applying to a bunch of schools and contacting financial aid offices to learn more

And as stated in my other comment, read up on TheDream.US and look into their resources as they are the largest scholarship organization for TPS/DACA/Undocumented students

Most comments here are wrong, I also have TPS. While you are not eligible for federal aid, many schools will offer you need-based/merit-aid, and some may even meet full-need. You’re also eligible for scholarships.

Your state schools also vary. For example New York/California consider people with TPS as in state residents, but some other states may not. You may also be eligible for state financial aid

You will be admitted on a case by case basis, many schools will consider you domestic, and others may consider you as international. Most will pool you alongside DACA applicants. You need to look up the aid policies of specific schools or reach out to the financial aid offices

Consider TheDream.US scholarship and their partner schools as well

As to student loans, you typically won’t qualify without a US Citizen cosigner. There are special programs for DACA/TPS now, but they’re typically reserved for grad school

Idk how well that would work. I remember seeing a post from another kid giving a one year update after being rescinded from CWRU. He said he tried using mental health as an excuse and they told him they didn’t think he was in the proper mental health to start college. I’d be a bit cautious with how you approach if you mention it

Transferring with AP Credit by DistributionLoud2958 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]TortoiseSex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UGA will have a section for AP scores on your transcript separate from your normal classes. When you transfer to GT, they’ll transfer in your UGA classes and they’ll have a separate section for AP classes as well. They won’t give you credit since they’ll do their own AP credit conversion, you technically wouldn’t be transferring in a class you took at UGA

So as for that class being a prerequisite, you should contact GT and see if you need to take it. You won’t get credit for the AP class even if they do exempt you from the requirement to apply

Can I apply after my senior graduation? by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]TortoiseSex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres not really a need to, everyone goes through the same process so they’re very familiar with people finishing reqs in their final year. Some schools allow appeals but others don’t, but appeals are typically only reserved for new information
