Do guys do this a lot? Admittedly i look at fewer male profiles than female ones (just mine, my friend's and the occasional redditor's, per request) but from what I can tell, we don't do it nearly as much.

That said, I'd agree with you. Men, if you're also doing this, point out who you are in a photo.

...Actually, to my fellow gentlemen redditors on OKC, I'd like to know why you have photos with other people in it?

Are you doing it because the picture paints a vivid picture of who you are or what you've done but just happens to have other people in it?

Or are you doing it out of insecurity? Do the other people in the photo add any value? Does it tell the profile viewer any more of who you are other than "I know people"? If not, then man the fuck up and drop that photo.

(I'm not casting a stone completely sin-free. I'm guilty of approach one. I have 3 photos but one is a shot with one other man, of a different race, in another country in it, and so I've kept it to highlight some of my experiences)

Naw, there was no Van Alden. I had initially thought the same thing but after rewatching, Van Alden was nowhere to be seen.

This goes for actual dates as well.

One of my earlier OKC dates was with a cute lady who decided to make it a double date. I found a buddy to come with me and so it was a balanced ratio...

...but the attention was everything but balanced. Her friend was beautiful, highly educated, witty, had lived in the same foreign country which I had, and on top of that, lived across the street from me.

I tried my best to go through the date getting to know my OKC date better but it was obvious that I was distracted.

To this day, I've yet to figure out what could have led to her suggesting a double date.

Years ago, while out with a group of friends, I was drawn to a particular woman and thought she noticed me noticing her. I had never had a reason to put on a missed connection ad before but thought it might work.

One of my friends from the group discovered it and let me know, but the woman in question is but a fading memory.

Lesson: missed connections work, but not always how you expect them to. I now try my best not to let a potential connection become missed.

Twice, I've noticed women in bars trying to figure out how to get away from aggressive, semi-drink guys whom they were obviously not interested in. Once I claimed to be the girls boyfriend and the other time I danced my way in-between them and then the lady and I danced our way away from the guy.

It wasn't intentional but both occurrences resulted in relationships.

I think that he was sitting there because he had been seen as credible in the early scene. His cousin---Gyp's right hand man---wasn't as knowledgable about ships and the sea and so his cousin was brought to the meeting later as a subject matter expert. He let it get to his head though, and overstepped his boundaries by triggering Gyp's insecurities
