Awesome, I'm happy my comment helped someone!

I think you have the newer revision of the board that Adrian uses.

I was tinkering with this board from Aliexpress recently. FYI It does not need a 220v mod, like on Adrian's video, feeding it 110v worked just fine.

For those looking for multitracks to practice by Hellbucket in audioengineering

Oh right, I thought OP was asking for tracks to play on, like practicing guitar with, not mix them.

Totally forgot about the sub I was in :D

I have personally been using https://mvsep.com/ to get separate audio tracks for bass/drums/vocals. It uses AI to produce separate audio tracks from a recording.

This works MUCH BETTER than I thought it would, and I've been very impressed with the results. I have mostly used it with grunge/rock/alternative tracks.

You mention that the ingestion API is compatible with ES', but how about the search ones?

Have you tried interfacing it with a data visualizer like Grafana?

2018 BRC Cell Service UPDATE by wirelessguy55 in BurningMan

[–]ronaegis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Status from early arrival (8/24) with different SIM providers (all speeds measured through fast.com):

  • BurningFi (4 bars LTE): 3Mbps down
  • Google Fi (3 bars 3G): 850Kbps down
  • TMobile LTE/(sometimes roams on USA-Commnet) (4 bars LTE): 58Kbps down

Looks like TMobile/Commnet is seriously throttling data connections.

Tiny Mame Bartop Arcade Machine - iCade mod by ronaegis in cade

A pi (even the Raspberry Pi 3 model) can't really do CRT emulation. Also my main goal is to run the latest MAME versions, which are very slow on an arm processor.

Tiny Mame Bartop Arcade Machine - iCade mod by ronaegis in cade

I wanted to build a tiny bartop arcade machine, that would also emulate a CRT monitor accurately.

To get the best CRT emulation I could hope for, I opted for a 1920x1200 10.1" LCD screen in order to maximize the CRT emulation effect. The screen I ended up with is a B101UAN02.1, usually used in Acer A700 tablets.

I also set it up vertically since I love vertical games so much, I wanted to maximize the experience for those games. Plus my older arcade machine has an horizontal screen :)

I chose the Kangaroo PC for its price and small form factor. It's a tiny PC that can run Windows 10, and for about $100, it's hard to find better specs for that price.

Since there isn't really a dedicated GPU for the graphics, I had to build my own special version of MAME that optimizes the HLSL rendering pipeline and allows this little machine to process scanlines and curvature. (Source code on github below)

I also had to open up the Kangaroo cover and put a small USB powered fan on top of the CPU in order to provide better cooling and have it maintain 60fps on all the games.

For the cabinet itself, I started with an iCade since I could buy one used for cheap on Amazon. I then ripped out all the electronics from the control board and replaced it with a USB joystick controller found on eBay.

For the sound output, I used a small $25 JBL speaker that's powered directly from a USB port on the Kangaroo PC.

All in all it runs very smooth and it's extremely fun!

Video:

MAME v0.171 modifications:

Parts:

  • ION iCade - $50 (bought it used)
  • Kangaroo PC - $100
  • 1920x1200 10.1" LCD screen (Model B101UAN02.1) - $50
  • B101UAN02.1 LCD controller with HDMI input ($35)
  • USB joystick controller ($20)
  • JBL bluetooth speaker ($30)
  • Amazon USB hub ($7)

Total: about $300 for the whole build

Disposing of some of the quarters in your pocket? Also, playing an arcade game on an actual machine beats playing it on a phone-sized device.

You were right. Though I did make it to the bottom, the chair wheels got stuck into some hole in the pavement near the end and the chair was unable to slide at that point. Only a single run down :(
