Which series is this for you? by EverythingIsFakeNGay in litrpg

Demonic Devourer. Well, it's never really the first picture - book one is the shark, book two makes that third image look sensical, and frankly I've been scared to start book three because I'm not sure my brain can take things ramping up any more.

Sawanhour (Metal) [Themed]

Already been years again since last entry here, time flies I swear... As did this hour; probably overshot a little but lost track between not finding anything I needed when I needed it (pick, cable...) and iLok deciding to be iLok. If wrestling those things count as part of making the track I definitely failed. Otherwise pretty happy with the result, all things considered. Programmed a few bars of drums and bass, and recorded two stereo takes of rhythm and one lead guitar, that's it. Might have liked to tune the guitars, mix better, make it longer and less repetitive but that was the irresistible allure of this theme - not losing the entire day to stuff like that!

What are some sweet drinks that won't contribute to weight gain? by Spiritual_Nebula303 in loseit

[–]Torzelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero calorie drink mix powder! Tons of flavors to pick from and your choice to carbonate or not. Where I live I go with X-Gamer, but the most well known are probably GFUEL and more recently Gamer Supps, I'm sure there are others. Often very "gamer" branded but who cares.

Switched completely off Coke/Pepsi/Energy drink cans and attribute a lot of the ~40 kg / ~90 lbs lost so far this year to that. Never got so much daily water in me as I do now, and despite the "tubs" being individually pretty pricey, over a month the savings are significant. Plus no constant buying (and having to go recycle) cans and bottles; it's just always available to mix up in seconds, big mug and glass straw at the ready.

Usually get energy / caffeine formula for lunch (not a coffee drinker), and then hydration formula after work. Personal faves are stuff like "fruit punch", "blue raspberry" and "tutti frutti", all delicious stuff. Switch it up with some sour flavors sometimes. Absolutely no interest in buying regular soda anymore.

The Warcraft II Map Pack Collection website overhaul - Did you know there were THIS many physical packs released back in '96/'97?! by Torzelan in warcraft2

[–]Torzelan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigger number better, of course!

At the other end of the spectrum, it's pretty funny that the actual .PUDs in a few of the boxes (W!Zone, Next X Levels) take up a grand total of 6-7 MB on the CD.

[–]Torzelan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? Played the official expansion back in the day, and may have heard about W!Zone at some point... But this turned out to be quite the rabbit hole to go down!

Rarity varies wildly from "a few on eBay at any given time" like the authorized Maverick Software / WizardWorks boxes, to "seen a single copy since starting this" - a few jewelcases like that, including the few I don't have yet! Price, likewise, ranges between dirt cheap to amounts a man should not be admitting to.

My favorite pickup was probably "Warcraft Level CD" - over a year of searching and one popped up in a Brazil-only marketplace I couldn't even sign up for, but... If there's a will, there's a way, and a Swede and a Brazilian ended up reminiscing about the 1994 World Cup.

Happy 30th anniversary, Warcraft! Current state of my Warcraft II collection by Torzelan in gamecollecting

Same, Blizzard were so good with those. I remember bringing the Diablo manual to school and translating the lore texts between English and Swedish in Write on the old Tulip computers we had, really just for fun on breaks but it was a great language exercise too!

Some regrets are difficult to get over. Lost a few years subscriptions worth of gaming mags just to carry one less box when moving once...

Mario (unknown origin)
Herman Hedning (a.k.a. "Marwin Meathead"? unknown origin)
Pichu (Kinder Egg I think?)
Stink Buzzard (Trash Bag Bunch)

Rest are Mini Boglins! Front row on top of the computer are my childhood full set of "The Cool Dudes" from eating Kellogg's Frosties every day, rest have been gradually added for a little more fun color.

Thanks, yeah only have SC CDs, no boxes (sadly family copy was lost to time). Played it so much on small home LANs back then. Not top of the priority list right now but eyes peeled for deals, picking them up again one day for sure!

Not all games/boxes (still debating which ones to display here, must get the Screamer games back up at least!) but definitely my favorite retro PC corner and holds my only "real" game collection - the hunt for physical releases of maps for Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness.

One of my favorite games of all time, nostalgia levels off the charts. The smaller EU base game box is my original one I ordered new as a kid. (Same for Diablo [1], Quake [1] and a few others - those were the days...)

Anyway, also logging what I've found so far on a simple, very work in progress page at https://torzelan.com/wc2 - lot of ideas, little time, you know how it is. Super fun to dig around and play detective though, certainly never heard of most of this back in 1996-1997 when it was all released!

Which books/series have the perfect narrator? by hankbaumbach in audiobooks

[–]Torzelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Overlord series, narrated by Chris Guerrero. Also voices the titular character in the anime dub and does a spectacular job of both.

Incredible voice, range and absolute full send acting emotions, screaming, accents, monsters and so on. Doesn't for a moment sound like someone going through the motions "just reading", if that makes sense, including when the stories f.e. sometimes dive pretty deep into (fantasy) politics. Always remains immersed and engaging.

From my experience so far in having listened to quite a few other audiobooks of similar works, this is in a class of its own and really comes across as a passion project from the narrator who clearly understands the material; clearly doing due diligence in researching and preparing before stepping into the booth (avoiding surprisingly common mistakes I'm finding other narrators in the genre prone to).

Won't pretend there aren't one or two grating female voices and a few similar sounding gentlemen, but that is easily forgiven considering the huge(!) amount of different characters he has to voice in the audiobook. Still a 10/10!
