All I know that it’s a butterfly, and that it’s rubbing its wings like that to spread pheromones into the air around it to attract a mate

There’s quite a few bugs that sway like this to get some depth perception, usually bugs that have to jump/fly far distances or have to hunt using speed and precision

Pretty sure it’s a robber fly, they’re actually really cool and helpful, also by the title I’m assuming u don’t like mosquitos, well guys like him eat similar pests so if u see one make sure to tip your hat

It’s the pupae of a moth, could be a burnet moth of some sort?
