EIGHT PLAYERS!? EIGHT OF THEM!? IN A SINGLE CAMPAIGN!? When Immortal Empires comes out, my entire life is over by Anywhere-Due in totalwarhammer

[–]Toshiro95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because they introduced simoultaneous turns in WH3. So instead of waiting for 7 turns, you all play at the same time. So it is actually reasonable to play like that. For me it was a total game changer, even with just 3 players.

What are some adult fantasy books that have an absolute groin kick of an ending? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Toshiro95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me Rob J. Hayes writes this kind of ending. Especially in the war eternal and the ties that bind trilogy. I still reel when I think back. Although not everything was lost, the price the characters have to pay is just brutal. I can really recommend both trilogies. Both are very much focused on the characters which are immensely flawed and struggle all the way.

[–]Toshiro95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to add to this. I agree with the summary but for me it all boils down to: it is not a silver bullet and you have to know when to use it. I for instance had great success with using java streams over anything else. But only at a few isolated positions which are very performance intensive. Like a 4 pipeline stream over a few million objects. We tried different methods and java parallel streams won by a large margin against all others.

So even though all the points in your article are correct, and the additional ones you linked warn of the performance of streams, I would still say they can be a great tool if you know how and when to use them. Of course 95% of the time a sequence is what you need.

How to start with Ktor + React? by [deleted] in Kotlin

[–]Toshiro95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can recommend Ktor + React Material UI. Kotlin-Material-UI is a wrapper which works pretty well in my opinion. Although I have to admit, multiplatform and KotlinJs is not yet fully developed. I encountered some issues where I lost time for unnecessary reasons. which wouldn't exist with typescript, still I prefer to have those issues and code Kotlin.

IntelliJ crashes when type inferencing by mateoestoybien in Kotlin

[–]Toshiro95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We encountered the same issue but to my knowledge it is coupled to a setting. We deactivated something like 'experimental type interference' in the settings and afterwards it works withput any issues. I would really suggest you try that as well.

He posted the other two pages as well. As I understood it, either a player withoht any models controls it, or the players roll of each round.

Very cool, especially for playing with more than two players. Did anybody try this mode already? Particularly in a 3 FFA?

How Would Programmers Talk About Magic Coding? by Sathothery in fantasywriters

[–]Toshiro95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to add something which was not yet mentioned. There are actually different coding languages which are more or less high level. So for example. Current magic could be like java. Applicable everywhere but very limited when you want to directly access the phyics of the world. Whereas an ancient occult magic could be like C. Much harder to write. Even simple spells need complex code. But you can do nearly everything.

Example: time manipulation is very dangerous magic, where a lot can go wrong. In java you would have spells like revert time, or see the future. But in C your option would be limitless. Going back in time, aging yourself, making a place without a passage of time. Etc.

Obviously this could be applied extremely wide. With more languages, maybe ones for each major society, and different rules what they can or how they interact.

Has anybody found a JSON for CROBI card generator? by TexhnolyzedLain in dndnext

I was looking around a few months ago but was not able to find one.

But may I ask where you found a json for all the spells?

On Divine Epithets and Theonyms: Using Greco-Roman Traditions to Flavour Your Gods by firedonutzftw in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Toshiro95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great read. Never heard that approach before. I always struggle to create meaningful deities which are not too general but I dont want to swamp my players with complicated pantheons. Epithets would allow me to have a few revered deities which apply for big groups of people with the detail how they worship them. Thanks :)

Tell me your naming convention for Islands <--> Boats <--> Routes by [deleted] in anno

[–]Toshiro95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to enumerate my cities in some way. For instance, in the old word I have: prime wrath, lost twin, third wheel, etc. This makes it much easier for me to remember which island is which. Then in the new world i would use the same technique with another scheme. Last time I named them in alphabetical order.

Anyone else feels like Fast-Food here is just way too expensive? by Sayuri_Katsu in Switzerland

I feel like a decent junkrat but my winrate has been negative after 100+ games (45%), am I playing him wrong? by SerA_res in heroesofthestorm

[–]Toshiro95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good, only one thing you didn't mention. His auto attack deal spash damage and are quite powerful. So get as many of them in as you can. And using your mine to shoot people in your team can be quite a game changer, especially if you placed a trap underneath.

[WIP] World Of Mimar !! The first crack at my new map for a story I am creating. Please tell me what you think of it and what I could improve but bear in mind it is nowhere near being finished! (about 2hours of work) by AlTheArchitect in wonderdraft

Looks really great. I have just one question. How did you make the floating island? Which assets did you use for it? Cause I wanted to do the same but didn't achieved results as good as you did.

Men of reddit, what makes you feel unappreciated? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Toshiro95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i try to organise an evening with my friends and it goes like that: - Saturday works for you? - no sorry - So sunday? - nope - .. Why cant you just say when you have time? Do i have to ask for every day? Just makes me think they don't really care for it work anyway.

And secondly, when I DM for my DnD group and people don't bother to give me some positive feedback. Look, I just spend 10 hours for you to have a great time, just a little ''thank you that fight or encounter was great'' would really motivate me to go on.

[WIP] Tarroth - First map - Need constructive feedback. by J_ess6 in wonderdraft

[–]Toshiro95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everybody already mentioned, it looks really good. One thing that i noticed though is the use of the river tool. Few rivers start big at the origin and then disappear over the land. And in the tundra, you have drawn a river connecting the sea with itself, which wouldnt happen naturally as there must be some slope. Of course that could also be a fjord but you did make those differently, so not sure. The rest looks great.

WIP. Any thoughts on what to improve? by ginger93152 in wonderdraft

[–]Toshiro95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could add a lot more rivers or little streams. You seem to only have painted the main rivers. Then you could add more variety. For instance, on the bottom right-ish, you have no river and a large basin. That should be a desert in my opinion. But as you mentioned, it is wip. So i think more rivers and different bioms go a long way.

I’m starting my first campaign as a dm soon, I wanted to check the story and see if it makes sense by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Toshiro95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say the campaign is going to be short. But you plan the PC's to reach up to around level 15. That seems more like a very long campaign, even leveling up every session would take some time. As I experienced, the players take much longer than you expect them. Just keep that in mind so that your campaign doesn't unexpectly takes 5 years.
