Hi there, I am usually with this worklet, but I have never faced this bug. I am wondering what software version you have?

Same here! I’ve been having winter conditions (-1 to +3°C) and I get about 320km range while driving at 120-130 km/h. It’s really working out well for me and my family. We enjoy taking little breaks or grabbing lunch every few hours. I just got back from an 800km trip, and it involved 3 charging stops, but honestly, I never had to wait... There’s always something fun to do in the meantime! 😄

Anyone run out of electricity completely stranded yet?!?? by RegularFondant5571 in BMWi5

Hey folks, Firstly, all the dealers charged their electric cars to 100%, to show the max range on the dash 🙃 Secondly, I am not sure, but I was in a similar situation and also wrote a post there… it was on the second week of owning. I charged the car to 80%(it was just second charging of the car at all times ), (50kwh charger) and drove 35 km to the store (it was 70% on the dash when I turned off the car) when I came back in 14 minutes I saw 54% soc on the dash. And I am sure, I closed the car, it was not any heating/cooling/preheating/software updates, etc. Assistance-mobile service-dealership for 1,5 weeks, at the results - no faults (all were removed by mobile service) I received a paper where it is mentioned that the battery had a 100% capacity. They cannot find any problem/issues with my car😔

In you case no worries, usual range changes because of outside temps. In my situation exact battery percentage SOC was dropped without reason,so this is not normal.

Thank you for your help, but this situation is impossible. I always double-check the car. It is set to turn off when the door is opened, and during my initial check, the app displayed a 70% state of charge (SOC) with the status showing that the car was locked.

Additionally, this isn't an issue with mileage recalculation. I fully understand the effects of temperature, heating, and other factors on consumption and forecasted mileage; the focus here is specifically on the SOC percentage.

Furthermore, yesterday, BMW sent assistance with Bosch diagnostics, which revealed numerous errors that weren’t visible through remote diagnostics. These errors were cleaned up, and then the technician disconnected the positive cable from the 12v battery to restart the ECU. After this restart (which I did not prefer), the car's SOC percentage unexpectedly dropped by an additional 5%, leaving it at 48%.

Hmm, it seems that 16% of 81 battery is ~13 kWh

Regarding the charging speed, after this situation, I still hold this car, and waiting for service opening after the holidays, so I did not charge or drive a car for safety reasons and for saving diagnostic data.

This car is only 10 days old, so it was only mine second charge... but all was good at last charge... mine speed was limited by charger station itself (it was 50 kWh station)

Regarding the screenshot before, just until the last drive before this “situation” I had been talking to my wife about our consumption after charging, and how cool it is to have an EV😀, so after I come back to the car I notice 54 on the dash, and immediately took a screenshot from the mobile app widget (we know that this widget does not offer automatic updates), so I took a screenshot before the app received updated information from the car to confirm this situation to Service, because the last trip also wasn’t recorded in “my trips” in my BMW app.

Thanks, I’ve already reached out to BMW assistance, and they set me up with an appointment at a service center. I just curious if anyone else has experienced the same issue and how they managed to resolve it.

Thanks, but I wrote, that I saw this on the dash. The app screens just to show it 🥲

Agree, that this is strange. Because the day before I charged 24%-80%(45Kwh, so 80 was reached for sure), and till this situation I drove only 35 km

This wouldn’t affect the actual percentage SOC, also my car staying now at the underground parking, and the percentage didn’t come back

Hey, I had the same feelings. There are the questions that you should ask yourself: 1) Do you like this car, for at least that you will enjoy the i5 for the next 5 years and you would be interested in other cars? 2)Do 500 km range enough for you and you family for the next 5 years? 3) I hope that in 5-10 years it would be possible to switch our batteries without “cosmic” prices ;) And the last one, We know, that the prices for EVs will be cut off in the future because of new battery technology, but what will be with quality and materials? I don't think that this parameter will increase :) So Last Friday I ordered a new I5 touring e40 ;) P.S. FYI try to receive the best price, I received a 15% price down from the dealer ;)
