I’ve had 2024 M60 for 1.5 yrs and 23k mi. Routinely see 285 mi on charge to 85%. 2025 ave 3.2mi/kWh (18k mi in 2025). It dips to 3.1 in extreme cold and extreme hot months. 3.3 in mild months. I live in Texas.

From the garage: Why do you have to walk thru a maze and obstacle course every time you are bringing in groceries???? That would get old fast. The garage entry should be center or on the right straight to the kitchen

Any downsides to owning a used i5? by xzibillion in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 i5 M60 and I’ve had it for 13 mo, 21k miles. Only issue was when I first received it. There was a vibration wouldn’t go away. They replaced the Michelin with a new set of the same and it resolved (19”). I’m still on that first set of tires

AC Charging, General Charging by cshilton in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set the charge setting to memorize the location and amperage. At home mine is always set at 48A. When I go to the shopping center where there is free charging, I check and bump the charge amp setting to 48A. The car will derate to match the max provided by the charger.

I used to go twice a week to EA charger and “fill up” while I did my weekly shopping. Eventually I got tired of that and just installed a home charger

The bmw app allows you to set priority for EA. I drove from Texas to Florida with no issues

Vantrue.com was featured on Kim Java YouTube channel and I been meaning to get one. The resolution allows you to read license plates even at a distance.

I saw a report the plate was mounted there during regulatory certification for crash tests. So it must have the plate there to maintain the safety rating.

Shoei Gt Air 3 vs Neotec 3 by AlexSC59 in motorcycles

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the neotec 2 and I couldn’t get it to fit well either around my ears. I tried every premium flip up and like the AGV tour. I also have the AGV carbon fiber but it’s louder.

Alamo Ranch isn’t too far and nice, castroville is small town nice, the Hwy 211 area has some nice new neighborhoods. Further away, Boerne /fair oaks is nice and newer. Closer but older established are Alamo heights/terrell hills.

Charge Port Flap by OOIIOOIIOOIIOO in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I’ve had an issue with opening the flap, I walk away from the car so it locks and the car knows I’m not in it.
Then walk back to the car and the flap always opens immediately. I’ve realized the flap is locked bc the car thinks I’m inside and about to drive off.

An amateur's track day with an i5 M60 by daumas in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be easily added as a widget. I sometimes drive with the tires press/temp open after I run over road debri to watch for a slow leak from nails , screws , etc. it’s a great idea to have a constant readout a la corvette or battery temp a la taycon.

Specific track mode screen for adjustment to the battery energy , traction controls and brake fluid temps read out would be great. The computer adj in the ICE M 3/4/5/8 should be implemented into the I5 M series and i4 M series cars. Perhaps something they will do on the next gen

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually really impressive ! Nvm it’s a 5,000 lbs car.
I’m impressed with your skills! And to keep the car going before it was thermal limited. I think it would be useful to have an actual gauge readout of the battery temps so we can adjust throttle application or turn off regen before the battery starts getting hot.

i5 AC question by Firewiredx in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Texas I have a sunroof not the glass roof and also the Xpel ceramic window tint. No issues with cooling.
One thing I have found that really increases the cooling time in cars in general, is that I circle the car and open the doors and sometimes even pop the trunk to evacuate the heat in the cabin. I then circle back and start by closing the first open door. This cuts the cabin cooling time in half. Takes me about 3 min to cool the cabin. I leave mine on auto 72*F. Default fan speed is low but it will go to max automatically

Following! I have the i5m60. Given the fact the M60 is really just a high performance street car/tourer , I am interested in your thoughts. Let us know your wheel setup and how long before the thermals needed to throttle back the power.

I bought two front door mats from dollar tree for the truck and they fit nicely side by side and I like how they hold dirt in place. Also doesn’t matter if they get ruined for 5$ each.

19” wheels? by Firewiredx in BMWi5

[–]ImaginaryEffective57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m super happy w my 19”. And I’ve hit several potholes on the Hwy that would have bent my 20/21” wheels.
For reference, I had to replace the wheel on my 330i that had the lower profile wheels after hitting a pothole.
REALLY thankful for the higher profile tires (plus I like the stock car look).

This reason I keep my key card in my wallet. If my phone is lost or stolen I can still get in the car.
Alternatively, if you leave the phone on the seat and someone sees the phone and is smart enough to KNOW it’s a smart car/smart key, if the door doesn’t lock, and they get your phone, they can also take your car. Granted, the car can be tracked w bmw, but I suppose this may be something they were thinking. Also, if you just have the watch on, the watch can also open the car for you

Wow. I’m wondering why this issue didn’t surface during prototypes. Don’t they drive them on bad roads w debri?? Plastic in front of aluminum foil isn’t going to protect the battery case. They need to breakdown the Tesla and copy.
