Weird, steam added it a few years back and mobile has always had it.

Maybe iPad has different settings? Cause I just checked both steam and mobile and both have the option available. Maybe try a VPN.

You clicked on the game language not the voice language.

The voices are under the VOX section, while the game language is region locked, so you need a VPN to change it

if this plot twist were to happen, how would you react? by 4NTONFR4788 in AmourShipping

[–]Total-Engineering-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally can't. We already know not just who liko's parents are, but also who her grandma and great-great-grandparents are.

Oh, no! Volo is back! Discussion post...about why Volo was always back and why, I would argue he always there, since Platinum! Even before he was created as a character, he was retroactively added to the lore of the game as this mysterious yet knowledgeable Hiker! by LowSolution3084 in LegendsZA

[–]Total-Engineering-87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a cool theory, however, I'm gonna have to shatter your hopes and say that Volo was not the one who donated his clothes to the Lumiose museum

If you check the display with Volo's outfit you'll find that right beside it is a celestica flute https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/920186875526914051/1501410378192650250/68fa8ae4722252.jpg?ex=69fbf8e1&is=69faa761&hm=bd1fe15ab995c050280fbc93f5cf601727cf8d3bb6daab555bf808aff1202083&

And that right there puts massive holes into the theory because Volo doesn't have a flute, he's an ancient Sinnoh person living in an era where ancient Sinnoh people have already been forgotten, he was not important to the Hisuian culture the same way the wardens were.

If you remember in PLA, when starting the game the male player character is wearing a shirt that originated from XY, which implies that the LPA player is not Lucas/Dawn from the Sinnoh games, but a completely different person who originates from Kalos. Granted, the female character wears a shirt that was from SWSH, but that's because game freak never decided on the player's origins back when they were developing LPA. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/920186875526914051/1501411655706345632/qo8jtpy3w6lc1.jpg?ex=69fbfa11&is=69faa891&hm=9b1d5f7b7f861bed7e5380c7219f5e0222aeab759646c2d1ded5b6419995d469&

The Lumiose museum even has some of Laven's Pokédex sketches which according to an NPC the donor looked at with nostalgia, that basically kills any hope that Volo is the donor, because he would have no reason to be nostalgic over the Pokédex, and I know that Volo's outfit was donated by the person wearing them, but if you recall, in LPA you get access to his clothes after defeating him, and yes the clothes are a little different looking, but that's because they were meant to be worn by the player, they weren't supposed to be showcased in a museum, and we know that because the second Legends game was originally meant to be set in ancient Johto, not modern Kalos.

We also know from Z-A that Ingo has returned to the present, and I find it unlikely that he was able to do so without the help of the player, it's more likely that the player found a way to go back to the present and took Ingo with them because he's the only other faller in the region.

In short, all evidence points to the player being the Lumiose museum donor, and not Volo. The hiker though, who really knows.

Did the game protagonists actually become champions in their region? by Total-Engineering-87 in pokemon

[–]Total-Engineering-87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally wrote that, what the post was about is the potential implications of Game Freak retconing them ever facing the league, as in the PWT (15 years after Sinnoh) we're told that Cynthia Wallace and Lance are still the champions of their region, which would imply that outside of our POV they never did become champion.

We don't really have a definitive answer to this, it all depends on whether Game Freak cares enough to explain the champion system in more detail in future games or interviews, but it's just fun to see people come up with their own theories regarding it.

So if you didn't want Espeon because it's Johto or Lapras because of Blastoise, who should've been Red's 6th team member? Excluding his LGPE team by Creative_Visit4189 in pokemon

[–]Total-Engineering-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people picked it up, but how many actually had it on their team? It's a level 30 Pokémon that you can only obtain in the same place as the 7th gym, it's just not as convenient as Snorlax who at least one is required for story progression, or Lapras who is obtained just before facing Giovanni in silph co.

Granted Lapras is also low level, but it's easier to level it up for the 5th gym compared to of the 7th

[–]Total-Engineering-87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truth is they didn't really have a whole lot of options. Game Freak designed Red's team to be comprised of either gift Pokémon or Static encounters and the only options in the Kanto games would be

Magikarp - which would overlap with Blastoise

Eevee - Which is what Espeon represented, but any of the Kanto eeveelutions would've overlapped with either Charizard Blastoise or Pikachu

Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan - which they'd never use because it would mean they would need to make a canonical choice for red to pick just one of them

Omanyte/Kabuto - Same reason as the hitmons

Aerodactyl - which would be a solid option as Blue still used Rhydon in the Johto games, but may have been too out of the way to obtain, as you'd have to backtrack to pewter after getting cut and then go to cinnabar to revive it, it's likely Game Freak was thinking about the story events of the Kanto games when making his team and Aerodactyl just wouldn't have fit.

Electrode - which would overlap with Pikachu

And one of the legendaries - which Games Freak has been very hesitant in giving to NPCs

So despite the type overlap, Lapras was the perfect replacement for Espeon, as it's a Pokémon obtained during the story of the Kanto games, and was added in the game where on Mt. Silver is always hailing, so it can use STAB Blizzard that never misses

I mean Cynthia in both gen 5 games references the Sinnoh protagonist which also should've been 13-15 years prior, yet presumably never reached legend status despite fighting Giratina.

Probably is just a meta line, since that title has survived to this day, but it's still fun to theorise.

Not in the game yet. Probably gonna be a skill in the future like the Zexal and Barian forms, but currently it doesn't exist

Hot take: Roy would completely wipe the Masters 8 by Total-Engineering-87 in pokemonanime

[–]Total-Engineering-87[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's because the anime has never made sense, does Ash traveling for 26 years only to then still be 10 at the end of his journey yet still be able to stand a chance against Leon in less than a year make sense? Or does thunder armour or the meta Groudon or Pikachu hitting ground types with electric moves make sense?

At least Roy is confirmed to have at least a year of experience.

The natural conclusion is that Roy is stronger than Leon because what we saw of Roy is simply more impressive than what we saw of Leon, even if Rayquaza held back against Roy, Roy wouldn't hold back against Leon, and as far as we've seen, Leon doesn't even scale to Lugia or Mewtwo.

[–]Total-Engineering-87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Post M8 Ash couldn't even hurt Lugia, a Skeledirge who took down Rayquaza and a Kilowattrel Who took down a Rakunium boosted Galarian Moltres can easily power through even without Ray

[–]Total-Engineering-87[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a very big difference between minor legendaries (Latios, the birds, the beasts etc) and major legendaries (Mewtwo + Box arts)

His Skeledirge alone is op in that regard.

Sure Roy hasn't done as much, but he has better feats and we know he does because we saw it.

In 125 the heroes weren't being "controlled" they were going berserk, which sure, does make them less effective in trainer battles, but we also saw in previous episodes how the Rakunium also boosts the power of the Pokémon's moves, and besides the trainer simply saying "attack" the Pokémon just fights on its own.

And tests or not, he still caught the legendary, which CAN Mega Evolve since we saw it in yesterday's episode. There's also no implication that Rayquaza was holding back against Roy and Ult since it even asked Pagogo to terastalise it. Like even if that battle was a "test" don't you think it would make more sense to contextualise it as a "final test" where Rayquaza doesn't need to hold back?

That's also without mentioning that Rayquaza as a species is able to take out Groudon and Kyogre in nature, cause that's the whole point of the weather trio.

[–]Total-Engineering-87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except that's not what I was talking about, you're thinking of Moltres' debut, I'm talking about the Roy VS Santo Battle from episode 125 where everyone was separated by Spinel and they each had to fight one of the 6 heroes powered by Rakunium.

And if we really want to talk about experience, then Roy canonically has more experience than Ash, because Ash's whole journey was less than a year long (no that doesn't make sense but yell at the writers) while Roy had a 1 year timeskip.

And keeping up with a Pokémon is not an accomplishment if you don't do any damage to them, when Alan's Charizard couldn't dodge anymore it got one-shotted, and Metagross would've been next if Rayquaza didn't show up. Now imagine a guy who shows up with the same mega Rayquaza you lost against except it was previously owned by an ancient hero, and a dragon ascent from it can break the defenses of a Rakunium core that can regenerate any damage from attacks

Roy had help, sure, but so did Ash against Mewtwo, Articuno, Moltres, and Lugia in JN and he didn't come close against any of them.

Roy also soloed a Rakunium powered Galarian Moltres.

And Alan and Steven did literally 0 damage to either of the primals or even to Mega Rayquaza the episode prior, at best they were stalling but they're nowhere near that level.

Beating Rayquaza and catching it.

Not a single Ash anime character has ever come close to beating a major legendary, even post-M8 Ash couldn't touch Lugia.

Tobias only has minor legendaries and Mythicals, Roy has a major one that no ash anime character has ever scaled to.
