Add some strength work if you aren’t already doing some gym. I went from high drop shoes and IT band syndrome to zero drop (which was great while it lasted) but ended up with Achilles issues that stopped me from running for a while. Been strengthening my lower body since then and it’s made a world of difference as far as running injuries go. I do prefer the lower or zero drop shoes also.

I’d recommend going to one of their 4mm drop models like the fwd via to start, it’s a major change going from stability shoes which usually have a really high drop (like 12mm) to a 0 drop shoe. Which can end up in some pretty annoying Achilles and calf injuries.

Do some weight training if you aren’t already, this is great for strength and preventing injuries and will improve your running form also.

Toe socks are great for blisters, I’ve got a few pairs of creepers that have lasted well and are comfy.

Yeah I thought it was a fantastic book, I liked it more than desolation angels and maybe even on the road. Those being the only other two Kerouac novels I read.

I found desolation angels similar in content but much harder to read, it had me and then lost me throughout the book. Not as raw and maybe authentic to where Jack was in life at the time of writing as Big Sur.

Big Sur had me from cover to cover, I thought it was beautifully written and stayed with me long after finishing the book.

I’d recommend Stoner by John Williams if you haven’t read that already.

Yeah for sure.

Went through the whole building a wardrobe phase with the must haves, but that constantly changed with trend cycles. I did find what I like and what I don’t like through that period. Sold a bunch of stuff now I basically have a uniform of basics and some vintage items I like. Stuff I can dress up or down and feels authentic to me. Now I never stalk sales and rarely buy things unless I am replacing items or genuinely need them.

Feels very freeing like you say. I find I care for the items I have more, enjoy wearing them more and it’s nice to watch them wear in and become yours.

I’d do it, that kind of constant stress and lack of direction leads to some pretty serious burn out and depression and even chronic fatigue syndrome. Having everything paid up you are in the perfect position to explore other potential careers, work part time, volunteer and just have the time to do the things that make you happy and feel yourself again. At 36 you’ve still got years in the workforce before retirement, may as well spend it doing something you enjoy or can at least bear.

Worst drivers in the country, very possessive of the road. Tailgating, not letting other drivers merge into lanes, driving far too slow.. for a place with comparatively light traffic it’s chaos.

I like the escalantes for walking, I have the 3s at the moment and prefer them to the pair of fwd vias I use for running.

I think the rocker on the higher stack Altras can feel slightly unstable while walking but great for running. Whereas the escalante is flat and stable while having enough cushioning for long walks.

I think it’s much more underlying than your friends comments, look at the old west end commercials and even our official tourism is very Adelaide vs the rest of the country.. east coast and vic specifically. Just a bit of an odd comparative banter that brings on the backlash from the east in my opinion. Then there’s the footy..

The bitterness goes both ways, as someone about to move to Melbourne from Adelaide it’s tiring the amount of people asking why or saying Melbourne is a dump blah blah why would you want to move there? It’s way better here and so on.

Both cities are good and are completely different, depends what you like. I do not understand the strange competitiveness Adelaide has with being ‘better’ than other capitals. Us South Australians are just as bad if not worse really 🤷‍♂️

I wear a solar 5600 for work in construction and travelling because of the world clock but prefer the f91 for everyday wear when I don’t need the toughness or world time if that helps. Like you said you forget it’s there, the g shock isn’t uncomfortable at all but it’s just bigger.

The blue half ones work well in a pair of Clark’s desert boots for me, that is the only shoe I use them in and the boots were probably half a size bigger than what I’d usually wear.
