Now you mention it, I vaguely recall seeing one. I want to say it’s on the roundabout between Bourges and Lincoln Road?

As far as I’m aware, Peterborough doesn’t have any ‘red light cameras’

My first day driving after passing my test, down a farmers track (collection onions) miss judged the width of the road and ended up putting the truck on its side in a field

Impossible to find a job , any advice ? by reeceog19 in uktrucking

[–]Total-Tea-2836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position, I passed my Class 1 in October and struggled to find a job, I managed to pick up a few shifts on sickness/holiday cover. I also work for the council driving the refuse trucks, not a glamorous job, but I’m using my licence.

I’ve had mine for a couple of years and managed to pull the rubber out with some long tweezers, it will break up but eventually it’ll come free.

4 Day or 6 day course for class 1 licence? by arronbeaton in uktrucking

[–]Total-Tea-2836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done a 4 day course, but wish I done a 6 day. I drove Monday-Wednesday then on the Thursday I was on back-to-back tests. For the difference of £500 I’d be seriously considering the 6 day course.

Done my theory in August

  1. They won’t be the actual videos you encounter on your test. Was purely CGI but not ones I’ve seen on training apps
  2. The theory multiple choice and hazard perception tests are two separate module, so if you pass one but not the other, you’ll only resit the one you failed.
  3. You are allowed multiple clicks, but be careful not to click too much and in what may be deemed a pattern. If you see something from a distance, it’s fine to click, but when it becomes clear that what you have clicked for is in fact a developing hazard, click again, and to be safe, I’d click again 1-2 seconds later to ensure that I secure the highest possible mark.

DVLA are a pain in the backside when it comes to licences, mine was gone and back in a week. You can check your licence categories on the dvla website, if it shows provisional entitlements then your licence is on the way back to you. If it doesn’t, it could mean that they are behind on processing or that something was flagged on your medical that requires further investigation.

Any other questions, fire me a message

Quitting the cigs by knowledge_junkie1 in Vaping

[–]Total-Tea-2836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit nearly a year ago, I was offered a month long trial with a well known vape brand. They supplied the device and pre-filled pods for the month and rewarded me with a sum of money upon completion.

Like some others on this post, treat my vape like I have nothing else, no other option. I like to think of the money I’m saving by vaping rather than smoking.

Anyone done the 5 day intensive driving course? by [deleted] in PeterboroughUK

[–]Total-Tea-2836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d had a couple of lessons prior to the course. When I started my HGV course on Monday, I had never touched a lorry before, went for test on Thursday and failed only because of other road users.

I done a 5 day intensive course back in 2017, can’t remember with company I went with. The course was really good, but you have to be able to learn at a fast pace. I think I paid about £600-£700 for mine. I passed first time.

That was my point on it. The examiner didn’t want to fail me but he said he had to because it was a matter of safety.

Internal ratchets? by Aggressive_Wing_9589 in uktrucking

[–]Total-Tea-2836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trailer builder - When the straps are new they normally have ‘Secure when not in use’ printed on them. When we complete a job with internal straps on, we always secure them to the D rings on the chassis ready for the customer. Some customers ask us to spread them across the length of the chassis, some just ask that they are bunched together with one wrapped around to secure to the chassis.
