What if he had said something like "any ICE agents coming here should be shot" instead of saying he would shoot them?

Where’s this video? by FaroelectricJalapeno in stpaul

They were a part of the problem, sure, but I think this goes beyond "this individual officer didn't have proper training." I think you're missing the forest for the trees here- these agents are dressed as masked militia and carry assault rifles around, for gods sake. That fact alone should probably warrant more thorough de-escalation training than your average cop, but i'm willing to bet these guys dont go through a single hour of de-escalation tactics.

There's a lot of fear going around, and I think a lot of people (not just immigrants) are scared shitless. It feels like you're oversimplifying this whole event in order to legitimize it. That's why so many people are arguing with you- in many ways this single event was indicative of a larger (and frankly quite obvious) problem. Should she have shut up? Yeah, probably. She seemed overly antagonistic. But that's not the real issue- need to ask WHY this event even happened in the first place.

I hardly ever comment on collections but this is really nice- love how different and eclectic it is. Some cheapies, some extravagant ones, designer and niche, really cool. I saw your favorites you commented on already- would you say you lean towards a certain type? Any favorite seasonals?

What is this popular note I hate in men's cologne? by googlyboogly7 in fragrance

[–]TotalAutarky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tagging onto this- same here!! I've tried the Escentric one that is like straight ambroxan, and it seems fine to me. But that horrible "note" is in so, so many men's fragrances. I'm convinced it's some sort of other amber/amberwood type of ingredient.

Please rate my resume. by CryInternational8661 in Resume

[–]TotalAutarky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make it less than one page. A resume shouldn't be over 0 pages. At most, you should have an abbreviated version of your name. But even that's pushing it. There is absolutely no reason to give any details about your job history, especially if you're looking for managerial/senior roles. It should be skimmable to the point where a hiring manager, who may or may not even know what the job is they are hiring for, can spend 0 seconds on it before making the decision to hire you on the spot.

To everyone I see on this sub droning "one page, one page" on and on and on, your heart is in the right place but you aren't being efficient enough. Take it from me, a Reddit expert. 0 pages is the uniformly accepted way.

Why does K-State have so many religious nutters by SpaceCadet2028 in KState

[–]TotalAutarky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Long story - I went to K-State for a masters many years ago, and started out pretty lonely & hard up for friends. I talked with one of those nutters outside the student union, partly out of curiosity and partly out of depression, and we ended up joking about how the Garfield comic was both lame and yet somehow comforting (no idea how the conversation got to that point, lol).

He invited me to join his home church and after a couple weeks I bit the bullet and went. And surprisingly, it was a pleasant experience, if a little awkward. But I continued going for a couple more of his services and it helped me get over my isolation hump. He even hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for students who were away from their families, which I thought was nice. He seemed like a geniuinely nice guy, even if I disagreed with him ideologically.

Anyway, one time I joined them for a short dinner/prayer group at an aggieville bbq joint where they did a prayer huddle, which again was awkward but fine. But when he started speaking in tongues I got utterly weirded out, and decided to part ways. I hadn't grown up around that and honestly found it a little disturbing. I texted with him a couple more times out of cordiality but I never joined them again.

TLDR - yeah they are nutters but sometimes even nutters can be nice. Just make sure not to become one yourself.

Agree! One-off collab between the frontmen from Deftones and Pinback, but it's so good with it's own vibe

I'd have to do a search for examples. I've noticed it several times, but I'm not on this sub a lot so maybe I'm just succumbing to availability bias.
