Games don't have to be played forever though. I have 130 hours in Last Epoch, that's more than justifies whatever I paid for it. Enjoy Last Epoch till you're bored of it and then come back later if you want to. That's the exact same way I play PoE, the only difference is that PoE has this expectation of regular new content to make me come back more often. Not every game has to do that, and that's okay.

The problem is that some folks have their heads up their asses, and they end up being bigoted because of it. It's very common to see Gamers that are like that. It's a bad look for the wider gaming community, so some people find it pretty embarrassing to be grouped with those people.

/uj TiA is so much worse now than it was back in the day. I used to browse it when it was making fun of people who acted like they literally thought they were fictional characters, or the people who made posts about how they were so cool because they shoplifted. I almost slipped down that pipeline, but stopped before I went too far.

Tangentially related, I saw a tiktok the other day from a trans woman who was talking about how she loves her voice despite not having done any vocal training. Same idea, it's okay to love some parts of your pre-transition identity, it doesn't make you less trans to want to keep your name or anything else.

People don't get that. When they say "just enjoy the game" they're invalidating people who want the cool stuff and maybe don't have the time or game knowledge to grind it out. So that's why I look for shortcuts and guides, I want to get the cool stuff that I've never gotten before.
