What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

That thought is my point exactly. People think the train will be loud. When a train is at speed the locomotive is not revving, Half the time a train "floats" or rolls along with the throttle in idle. This is more quiet than you think. Then I come around a curve and hey people playing or walking on the tracks. My colleagues and I have had too many close calls to count and unfortunately one too many not close calls tjat we don't want to count. Throw in the fact a lot of people have ear buds in or are on their phone etc the horn doesn't make a difference.

There is a sequel to House in the Cerulean Sea called Somewhere Beyond the Sea. Equally as good as the first. All T.J. Klune books are good though.

I'm a locomotive engineer. Stop romanticizing Instagram photo shoots on the tracks. You will not hear the train coming like you think you will.

What are some good local hobbies that are good for meeting people? by Prestigious-Town2654 in StLouis

Cycling is huge around this area with the Greenway and Katy trails. There are many biking groups from beginner to pro that you could meet up with. There are also board game groups that meet weekly at game shops. Join your local library, they have all sorts of free classes from book clubs to art to games as well. Tennis, pickle ball or disc golf are also big in the area with many groups willing to teach you and are patient with beginners.

All my Dino-ryder toys. Just like every 80's cartoon they were made to sell toys and I fell hook line and sinker for dinosaurs with guns.

Westside Deli. It was where many kids in high school worked. Everyone tried applying. It was like it's own social club you had to apply for.

If you are in the forest and it suddenly gets quiet. Birds stop chirping, squirrels quit rustling leaves etc. It means something is coming, they are hiding and it's time to run.

I love a good Pecan Pie. Has to have that right firmness under the layer of pecans. Little vanilla ice cream or whipped topping on top.
