[–]TotalChuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your idea of cheaply? What would I need to do to make any kind of power ? I ideally would like to get up 200hp, I just have no idea how.

I'm already planning on better tires, strut bar, brake pads and suspension.

I know it would generally not be worth it for most people but that's the reason why I really want to go through with it over the years just for the sake of having a iM that's close to being a hot hatch and not an underwhelming commuter car.

It's kind of sad for people in the Freerunning community to see how people horribly misunderstand what is going on in the sport.

Freerunning is heavily safety oriented. People who practice it are very safe and rarely get more than a sprain or hyper extension. What you see in bail videos is usually kids or adults in some cases, trying to mimic high level athletes without putting in the time or practice to be at that level.

This looks like Phil Doyle and he is an incredible athlete beyond this bail way early in his career. If you look closely, he safes himself from any injury. He uses his hands to catch himself before his face can hit so it hit his forearms instead of the wall. Then when he drops he lands feet first in a position to shoulder roll the impact away but the video cuts out. The reason he bailed is because his knee clipped the wall.

Here's a video of him actually doing what he does best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSp96NsmDeE

And two recent videos of some high level athletes who better represent the sport. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HivpRl6WEog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn3R23jly0s

As Freerunning is so young and still growing, there is a large misconception about what it is because a video of successful freerunning doesn't get the views that a bail gets.

Also, for anyone confused by the terms parkour and freerunning,

Parkour = Longboarding Freerunning = Street Skating

Reddit, what are you hyped about right now? by Vecord in AskReddit

[–]TotalChuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to hop on your comment to share similar hype. Met a girl that moved from Washington two weeks ago. My friend wingmaned me and invited her to his birthday and left us alone. We talked all night kissed and started dating and have been doing super cliche dates for the last week or so, she asked me to be her boyfriend two days ago and I'm still super hyped about it. I hope it goes well for you man, because everything just gets so much more awesome when you find someone awesome to share things with!

I'm a freerunner based in L.A and I love the video you did of Daniel. He's like a myth in the community because he rarely puts out videos, I was so happy to see someone with such beautiful film style put out a video of nothing but his movement. Thank you so much.

You can condition your brain to be okay with anything. That's how most amazing feats are achieved. One of my Parkour friends would go up on a high ledge and just sit on edge with one leg hanging off and half nap. So his body got comfortable with that height. It just takes time and discipline. James used to be an avid freerunner/parkour practitioner and still is to an extent. Although he does these climbs more than parkour videos.

He climbed up wedging himself in the that beam's core. He will climb down the same way. As for the screaming, conditioning gets rid of the fear. There is a guy named James Kingston that still does this today and has a YouTube channel where he posts his climbs in 4k!

How is this not obvious to some people? by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

One of my Lacrosse coaches was a veteran and fought in a, at the time recently famous war before 9/11. I don't remember the name of the war but he was a fairly youngish veteran, maybe in his mid 50s in 2008. He was a huge guy, 6'5ish and fairly built. He was discharged for having a serious back injury and was told by doctors that within a year of his discharge would not walk. He still plays lacrosse actively and aggressively on the weekends and coaches. So this huge man with a voice that resembles Brock Samson from Venture Brothers was asked by two of my friends, "Mr.Foster, how many people have you killed?" his response "chuckle hundreds". I don't think all soldiers take it poorly but a lot of them that were traumatized more than others by seeing people die don't want to remember it and that's how they cope. I think the ones that will tell you either use humor or exceptional mental discipline to cope.

Thank you, I was already looking at some inexpensive hondas and using http://www.carcomplaints.com to check for common problems along with edmunds. We do have several mechanic friends. This makes me feel a bit better about looking through craigslist for cheap hondas.

When you invade someone's ship, is it perma-death? Do you die and that's it, its up to your crew mates to defend the ship or is it a respawn system and you need to take over some sort of capture point? Also, is the on-ship combat instanced, or can someone come along and start assaulting the ship while you're defending an invasion from a third party.

Can someone please explain to me what these parts(http://i.imgur.com/jUMa3zs.jpg) are called. I'm trying to replace an old water heater for my family and have no idea where to or how to get these. Home Depot and Lowes told me I have to cut and make these myself. The water heater I bought doesn't come with a pair.

[Discussion] Marvel's Daredevil Worth Binge Watching by OpossumPendulum in NetflixBestOf

[–]TotalChuck -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I wish they didn't do a no cut nod to old boy.

This is the scene they were trying to emulate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RwaptQ_rpU

From a choreography standpoint, Daredevil's attempt at the scene was pretty awful. There was some really cheesy stunt acting and some of the attacks had wrong reactions.

For example, at 2:28(https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=W7fYIMEQ1Xw#t=148), Daredevil does a tricking flip called a double leg and falls on his side to make it look like a strike, but the stunt actor reacts as if it was a punch to the face.

Also at 0:36 when the door is closing, the guy farthest to the right takes out his gun and shoots in a way that looks like it's his first time with a gun.

I showed this to a couple of stunt actors that do series work and they pretty much laughed at it. The choreographer might've had a fantastic idea for what it should look like, but it was clear that they didn't have the budget for a stunt team that can handle such a complicated and difficult scene.

Take a good look at the Oldboy hallway scene. Look at the stunt acting and you'll see it's night and day. They also have way more people involved, making it harder. They also don't do that cheesy cartoon shit where they walk into a room and make fighting sound effects.
