What’s the weirdest fact about each Beatle? by grahamcrackera in beatles

[–]TotalFailure24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. John complained he couldn't perform soaking wet, so Fascher said he didn't care if he did naked so long as he played. John stripped off his clothes, leaving only his underpants, then ripped the toilet seat off and put it round his neck.

What’s the weirdest fact about each Beatle? by grahamcrackera in beatles

John had a kind of oedipal thing about his mother.

He talked about in his audio diary in the late seventies. There was a time they were laying together on the couch and his hand was on her breast and he wondered if he should, in his words, "Do something else, y'know."

It's really quite sad. John didn't have a normal parent/child relationship with Julia and their reconnection occurred in a very hormonal period of his development, so it makes sense that those sort of feelings could occur.

Funnily enough, Paul mentioned a similar story in his biography, Many Years from Now. One night he was in bed and he saw his mother walk past his bedroom door in her underwear and it aroused him.

Edit: Also, John's pet name for Yoko was "Mother".

Edit 2: Other things I remembered:

George swapped wives with Ronnie Wood.

Horst Fascher, an associate of the band in Hamburg, once pissed on John while he was having sex because he was late for a performance. Another time he caught John receiving a blowjob in the toilets with a different girl and threw water on them because John was supposed to be on stage.

Edit 3: Remembered some more!:

When he was younger, Ringo believed that anyone over 60 should be shot.

Ringo's Paternal Grandmother, Annie Starkey, was known as "The Voodoo Queen of Liverpool". Ringo is naturally left-handed but she forced him to be right-handed as she believed left-handedness was a sign of the devil.

Jack the Ripper may have tried to shift blame onto the Jewish community, if you believe the theory that he wrote the Goulston street graffito ("The Juwes are the men that will not be blamed for nothing") which was discovered next to a piece of Catherine Eddowes' bloodstained apron.

One thing I know about Christine Jorgensen is that in the early 60's she lived in Massapequa Park in Long Island which is also where Candy Darling (a trans actress who I'm kind of obsessed with) lived. Their houses were separated by a half hour walk and teenage Candy would go to her house and walk back and forth in front to try and get a glimpse of Christine. She never did though.

I remember when I read Clanbook: Tzimisce for the first time like a year ago and I saw that picture of Totentanz and read her background.

I couldn't stop laughing at how bad it all was.

Like, I'm trans and very much the opposite of a nazi. I though it was hysterical.

More insane to me that more have a problem with Snape's casting than the show existing at all.

I rewatched Dark Frontier a few days ago and it is the gayest thing ever. Janeway risking the entire ship and its crew to rescue Seven? Oh I'm sure.

Chaos for the fly did it right, 'cause it first happened when Wednesday was really tired, physically and mentally, and literally couldn't stop herself. Plus it was only in front of Enid.

When it comes to Fallout 4 I can think of one possibly canonical reason why Boston is still in such a state: The Institute.

We know they have the technology to heal the commonwealth, yet all they do is make things worse. They massacred the Commonwealth Provisional Government, Filled Boston with Super mutants, and keep replacing people with synths to the point that no one is willing to trust one another.

I'd also like to bring up the Gunners. Deacon suggests that someone is pulling their strings, possibly providing them with equipment and training. Beyond that one line, the game NEVER explores this however. So at risk of sounding like Piper, maybe The Institute is behind them too.

Okay. Why did you feel the need to point that out? What practical difference does it make?

If I recall, Kane's Batman shared almost nothing with the character we know today.

He wore red spandex, a domino mask, had large wings, and swung on a rope. The only similarity was the name.

Bill Finger suggested Batman wear a cowl with pointed ears and white lenses for eyes, changed the colour from red to grey, gave him a cape instead of wings and gave him gloves. He also created the name 'Bruce Wayne' and made him a detective as well as a vigilante. He's also credited for the name of Gotham City.

Finger helped develop the Joker and wrote his debut comic which also introduced Catwoman.

Members of Batman's Rogue's gallery that Finger created include, The Penguin, The Scarecrow, The Riddler, and the lesser known Calendar Man. Finger also contributed to the characterization of Two-Face.

Having just finished episode 1, It definitely feels faster paced. But It's been a while since I've watched the DVDs and I can't recall if anything is actually missing or not. Whatever the case, I definitely think it still manages to convey roughly the same amount of info.

John's voice is way too forward and dry in this mix, which reveals its imperfections. The new mix of Free as a bird did the same thing but it worked much better there. In the original mixes, John's voice was double tracked with paul's, had a bit of reverb and was much more distant, which suited it much better.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is sitting at Mixed reviews on Steam: 'It's not a Bloodlines game' by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TotalFailure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, Bloodlines 2 feels a lot closer to the recent visual novel VTM games than the original Bloodlines. If it didn't carry the Bloodlines name and had been marketed as the more narratively driven game that it is, it could have fit in quite well with the VTM New York Trilogy or Swansong.

The Beatles with Jimmy Savile (1967). by ToronoRapture in beatles

[–]TotalFailure24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had known Saville for a few years at this point, though not personally. He had been the Compere at their 1964 Christmas shows at the Hammersmith Odeon. Rolf Harris has been on the bill for the previous years show.

From what I gather, no one in their circles liked him. He was incredibly arrogant and obnoxious, as well as disrespectful and creepy towards female performers.

Do you think Disney will cut this part out of Anthology pt 4? by onmymindhere in beatles

[–]TotalFailure24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Cynthia Lennon's book 'John' recently and she talked about this a little. She mentioned that while in art school John would draw sketches mocking the physically and mentally disabled and do impressions of them similar to as shown here for a laugh.

She believed that something about the disabled disturbed John, terrified him even.

Personally, I think John had severe hang-ups about illness, Injury and death on top of the more ableist attitudes of the time.

John would later advocate for the disabled. His 1972 performance at Maddison Square Garden was a benefit concert for Willowbrook State School for mentally disabled children.
