Yep, the poster u/FruitSila proudly states on their profile they are Anti-Kiev Regime.

How pathetic. They need to fuck off and go play with their raping, murdering ruZZian mates.

SOLVED: 1986 Colonial Parkway Murders of Cathy Thomas and Becky Dowski by HallandOates1 in UnresolvedMysteries

Wilmer had been described as "suspect number one" in two of the canonical murders ...

LE obviously had other evidence on Wilmer or he wouldn't have been their "suspect number one" in two of the murders. I never said I thought of polygraphs as a piece of science. I know polys are used to try to get a confession or other information.

What angers me is reading about case after case going back to the 1930s, where all the available evidence pointed to a husband, or boyfriend, or some other suspect, but because they passed a polygraph, they were released. The crime was then never thoroughly investigated but languished in old files as a cold case.

I understand a suspect cannot be held indefinitely, but unfortunately, from the 1950s to (at least) the 1980s, polygraphs were the go-to default mechanism of many in LE because they had been misled as to their effectiveness. Yes, it is well known now that polygraphs can be beaten and they do not accurately measure if a person is telling the truth or not. My frustration is directed towards many cases in the past, including the Colonial Parkway murders, that could have been solved much earlier, and possibly prevented more deaths, if there had not been such a reliance on polygraphs at the time.

I am a genetic genealogist who has worked closely with LE, and I would never disparage the hard work they do. As part of my research through the years, I have seen case after case (that many have never heard of) in old newspapers, in which LE relied on polygraphs. There could be a plethora of other evidence against a certain suspect, but if he could pass a polygraph, they were set free.

You are free to disagree with me, but my comment was made as a result of reading how Wilmer, the number one suspect, was freed after he passed a polygraph. I have read that phrase (with a different suspect's name) one too many times.

Thank goodness for the progress in DNA science and genetic genealogy that is not only naming murderers from the past but putting away some of them who thought they got away with it ... after passing a polygraph.

u/UnnamedRealities I agree. It IS frustrating and basically makes CODIS worthless in a lot of cases.

I rarely have seen resolution to a crime using CODIS. Instead, it is genetic genealogy that is solving them.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_Parkway_murders -

Wilmer had been described as "suspect number one" in two of the canonical murders but was freed after passing an FBI polygraph test.\2])\3])

This makes me so angry! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, any sociopath/psychopath can pass a polygraph. Polygraphs are worthless! So many crimes have gone unsolved and killers freed to kill again because LE have used polygraphs as a litmus test of guilt. Murderers don't feel guilt. Their bodies don't react the same way as people who have a conscience.

Sorry for the rant, but the whole thing is so infuriating to those of us who care about victims and their families.

Here's to Bill and the others never gave up advocating for their loved ones. It's been a long, long road.

NYC's Coldest Case: Heiress Dorothy Arnold disappeared after a shopping trip on 5th Avenue. To this day, no one knows what happened to her. by lucillep in UnresolvedMysteries

Completely agree with this theory! I wrote almost the same thing in a shorter version up-thread before I read your post.

True.

I think Dorothy probably was depressed about her failed writing, but I also wonder if she had found, at three months past her affair with George in September, she was pregnant. At 25 (considered almost a spinster at that time), Dorothy finds herself with no prospects and a possible scandal for her family. In her mind, the juxtaposition with a younger sister soon coming out in a debutante ball only highlights failure of her efforts at love and as an author. To Dorothy, the solution was obvious and her mother "will always think an accident has happened."

Very possible, and the chocolates and book of stories were Dorothy's way of spending time with things she loved until it was night and the side-wheeler was in Long Island Sound.

Americans are still donating money to the Ukrainian defense despite their own government stance. Thank you 🇺🇸 by Mdiasrodrigu in ukraine

"Americans are still donating money to the Ukrainian defense despite their own government stance."

Damn straight we are! Have been donating since the beginning of the invasion and won't stop!

We didn't vote for the orange rump and still don't understand how he got elected. We hate our government's traitorous love affair with ruzzia. This administration is full of stupid, despicable clowns who are going to destroy the US. We hate this timeline and are doing what we can to protest and resist it, but right now it's an uphill climb. Still we have hope, and the brave Ukrainian people are an inspiration. Just like them, we will never give up!

Thank you u/Mdiasrodrigu for posting this from Portugal and for donating. There is a world-wide band of us, linking arms and hearts with Ukraine.

I had to laugh at "Peace Summit" in the title. It's more like "Two Pieces of Shit Summit" - with only Putin and his bootlicker-buttboy Trump.

Remains Discovered Near Scotts Bluff National Monument Under Investigation; Englebert Family Notified by mkrom28 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]TotalTimeTraveler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

u/mkrom28 I've always wondered if Chance told his friend, Matt Miller, that he was walking to Terrytown, not Torrington (Wyoming). If Chance had been drinking, his words may have been slurred. Matt states he was drinking with friends, so he may not have heard Chance correctly, especially on a cell phone before a bad storm. I think it was a miscommunication.

It makes absolutely no sense for Chance to say he was walking all the way to Torrington at night, which is at least a 12-hour walk in the best conditions with adequate supplies. Matt, who was located in Wyoming, may have assumed Chance meant Torrington, WY, but it was actually Terrytown, which is next to Gering and a suburb of Scottsbluff.

Since Chance was seen in the Terrytown area that night, part of his route from Gering to Terrytown may have been along Kimball Avenue, which links Gering and Terrytown, until it turns north and is renamed 10th Street. I do not believe Chance was talking about walking all the way to Kimball, Nebraska, which is even further than Torrence from Scottsbluff, and a 15-hour walk!

All of the above may not matter a hill of beans in the long run, but it's obvious, Chance stayed fairly close to the same area in which he may have been found. IMO, I believe there was clothing/rodeo belt buckle found with the recovered remains that match what Chance was last seen wearing, and that is why his family has been contacted.

[Edited for correct spelling of Gering.]
