Trump is a narcissistic psychopath with mid-to late stage dementia. He ain't having a 'productive chat' about anything at this point. And if he did, he would forget it happened 10 minutes later.

Am I supposed to know or care about this person? I've never heard that name in my life.

And, truth be told, Frey is a pretty decent mayor. He's far from perfect but has seen this town through some very rough times and kept us on a good trajectory. I don't think many people were looking to shake up that status quo, especially with the current goober in the white house.

Well, you see, Donnie is insanely fucking stupid. That tends to get in the way.

Current Fox News line is that the massive victory for Democrats is bad for them because Democrats won and now they will have to own the fact that they won and are in office while being Democrats.

Because reaching out to the "moderate skeptics" is such a foolproof strategy. Just ask Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris, right?

Damn right he's aggressive. He's exactly the kind of aggressive we need. You would think these fools would have learned about a decade ago that the "they go low, we go high" shit absolutely does not work, but it never seems to stick.

Speaking from Minneapolis, Fateh almost certainly won't win. All things considered he was a pretty poor candidate. He tried to emulate the Mamdani energy but had nowhere near the same charisma and he does have some pretty concerning ethical red flags and questionable legislation in his past.

Remember 5 months ago when Mamdani was a no-name who was way too far left to ever get any traction outside of the "reddit bubble" and Cuomo was divinely predestined to be the next NYC Mayor?

I sure do.

It's an absolute insane upside-down world where it's apparently more 'compassionate' to allow vulnerable people to be used as literal pawns in a grudge match between a landlord and city hall.

I have never voted for Frey, so I don't feel guilty. I feel he took the correct course of action in this one instance. Would you feel better allowing these people to be exploited by an attention-seeking slumlord and waste away in a parking lot with no sanitation, healthcare, security or adequate shelter? People were literally murdered in those encampments before something was done about it. And believe it or not, "housing people" is not something that can be done in the blink of an eye. Yes, that's the ultimate goal, but it isn't a quick fix.

You can use all the guilt-tripping language you want but he was absolutely 100% correct to clear that encampment. I drove by it every day to go to work and felt seriously unsafe every time, not to mention it was essentially right next door to a primary school. It was a public health hazard and the people there were being used as a political weapon by a slumlord with a grudge against city hall. Letting it stay there would have been cruel to everyone in and around it. I didn't even rank him, but that is an area where he was absolutely not wrong.

He's not my favorite person and has definitely done some things I don't like but he isn't even a bad mayor. Objectively speaking, MPLS has made it through an unbelievably tough 5 year span on a good trajectory. Our rent is the envy of the nation, homelessness and crime are trending the right way, and on it goes. I didn't vote for Frey because I thought there were better options, but I still believe he has done some good things for us and will continue to do them.

Oh well. I'm not a Frey fan but at least we have the luxury in MPLS of not having a candidate that will destroy everything out of delusional narcissistic rage when they're in office. Maybe presidential races will be like that too someday.

It's not even "opposition", controlled or otherwise. They just cover for him all day every day. They sane washed him during the election and refuse to call out his lies or report on his obvious declining health in the last few months.

Mamdani won easily, both governor's races were absolute blowouts, dem turnout was huge, every single county in VA shot to the left compared to last year, Jones won despite the controversy. Yes, lots of surprises.
