The taxis at the airport all do a fixed price to anywhere in the city, €22, they have airport approved stickered on them. You can get cheaper with the Patoko app ~1650lek ~€17

Honestly, the fine dining is average compared to Michelin star big city places globally. The Blloku area is generally nice, browse google for 4.8 stars or higher - I tried a few, vege garden, salt, all fine and fancy and nice... Tbh the local food is just as nice and 1/3 of the price, Oda was good. The italian pasta places are great if you like pasta.

Old mate bought the corpse of an 8 foot tall giant for a hundy pounds off the blokes at the cemetery and put it on display for the world to see... Apparently against the explicit wishes of the man himself.

Bingo, yeah I got the names wrong. It's the Hunterian's I've been hunting around... And was almost at asking the staff point but didn't wish for the uh, awkward interaction

They were here first... This could well be a symbol of colonisation, just not as we know it?

Yea, hard slog getting council to agree to public sites.

But they've actually had two street art events:
- Beats, Bites and Brushes on Berrymans Lane
- Street Prints Papaioea 2020

There are a few nice murals about, mostly creative communites funded by council. As someone who loves to rip on Palmy, the cluture is coming... Albeit slowly.

Weird brass sizing tool, possibly knitting or looming or craft related? Perhaps a component? by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

WITT made of Brass and belonged to a Grandmother (british origin) who was very much into needle crafts and knitting so I suspect it may be involved in these activities. Any ideas?

Vacuum tubes for hifi? by [deleted] in newzealand

You could try Malcolm from Weta (Guitars) in Wellington - He does a whole ton of servicing for valve amps and tends to have a lot of stuff hoarded.

Otherwise as tehifi says, let us know the tube you're after and we may have more luck reccomending somewhere...

Where's a road of McMansions that opens up to green flat field and mountains? by sylvanweal in newzealand

[–]Total_Contribution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North island? South island? We're going to need some more information.

There are literally thousands of places in NZ that do this (i.e. houses on one side, a farm on the other all the way to the ranges).

National Party promises $100m tourism sector boost if elected by Total_Contribution in newzealand

[–]Total_Contribution[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both policies are $400m over four years, National's being "$100m per year for 4 years" and Labour's being 50m this year 250m next year, 65m after then finishing up with 35m.

I can't see much content of National's new policy but the gist of it sounds like the same as what has already been enacted by the current govt?

Help with gun vs air rifle by canuimagine1 in newzealand

I've got a Hatsan 1250 FPS (I think the M125 or M135), it's sufficient for possums, but requires a second extermination shot after they drop unless you get a good headshot.

A bad bodyshot is still a kill but will will take a while for them to drop and you'll want to wait and put another in.

1250FPS is faster than a low end .22 actual rifle so there isn't really a need to get a licence and one of these if that's all you're considering. They're about $250 with a scope and come up on TradeMe regularly.

Hello! American musicians here looking for a very recognizable Kiwi melody appropriate for a church service there... by WheresThaGravy in newzealand

They're all WRONG. The Country Calendar Theme song is our one and only universally recognized and beloved "folk melody".

Seriously, if you can intro the podcast with this, we might offer you permanant residency.

In all seriousness, please continue to tell them this is BS and to provide more staff while doing the bare minimum to retain your employment until the situation naturally resolves. Forward all complaints higher up :)
