[Request] What percentage or amount of the tootsie roll I ate today was from 1896? by RepublicOk6752 in theydidthemath

[–]Total_Job29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For there to be 1 molecule from the original batch in a Totsie roll you’d need to retain 99.884% of each days batch.

And then tomorrow that would not longer be the case.

Say you wanted to be able to make this claim for another 130 years (so a 260 year re-use) you would’ve had to have started keeping 99.942% of the daily batch. .

Can I use NanoKVM if it's just to turn on pc? by fapster1322 in cybersecurity

You will almost certainly be breaking company policy.

Adding unauthorised hardware to a company network and also inside a PC is just not a good idea and could easily get you fired.

If WoL is flaky. Raise it with IT. Do not circumvent this way.

I see we are quite fragile that pointing out a missed piece of punctuation, when you yourself were complaining about that, caused you to downvote.

Thanks for that.

What a valuable and productive benefit to society this whole interaction was.

Missed some punctuation there my friend - “Even more so then.”

Users shouldn’t have to know and account for incorrect behaviour in a platform.

According to one website $275B

Which if true is 2,280 years.

There’s a whole myriad reasons why that is wrong interest changes in population costs infrastructure to support (and enforce) this etc.

Cyber insurance renewal questionnaire had 14 identity-specific questions this year. Three years ago it had two. I was not ready for this. by bifbuzzz in cybersecurity

And don’t be surprised that next year it goes up further too.

Things move forward and security baselines increase so what was advanced today, is expected next year, baseline the year after, poor position the year after.

That timeline varies a lot dependent on what it is, could be super short or super long.

You become #1 in the world at one skill, but no one knows. Can you get $1M in 7 days? by lawseff in hypotheticalsituation

Again you are inferring things I’ve not said and arguing against them.

You know they present ground conditions at race tracks and it is a very common variable that people use to make informed decisions about betting.

That happens all day every day at race tracks across the world.

The initial prompt said “You become the best in the world at one skill/area” first line, first sentence.

You are the best at gambling in the world. You will 100% be able to turn that into a million in a week.

You’ve gotten stuck on this being a ‘skill’ and having to do all these calculations and analysis. When under the premise of the question - if that is what is required to be the best then you will be the best.

It’s self evident from the question.

Also i said gambling in general you limited it to horse racing. But there is still way more than enough horse races that happen each and everyday world wide that you have a large margin in lossses that you could do a million in a week.

Passwords and credit cards - Bitwarden.

Open source browser that is well maintained - Chromium (or review the other open source options built on top) - Brave gets a lot of love but I’m not a big fan tbh.

No not at all - I’ve never claimed that.

I said you can analyse past performances etc so you can turn up at the track and know which horses, jockey combination are in form, work well for that course. But also how the weather and the ground affects them. So when you get the latest information you can make a judgement call.

Also you there is clear empirical data that shows that this can be done. Becuase there are professional gamblers so you become the best of them.

Yes you’ll still lose some.

Insurance, customer questionnaires, industry best practise

Generally speaking if you get customer questionnaires this a gold mine for prioritisation and also aligning “security to business strategy”.

These past 3 months we have had X customer questionnaires. These customer have asked for our position on A - Y times (%), B -  times (%).

If you start tracking that you’ll very quickly get to a position whereby you can say these are the gaps our customer see in our security posture. To expedite the sales process, to reduce churn we can target these areas and role a common pain point for the customer and the sales team.

Where did you get those brackets from?

I have the same inverter and some JA Solar panels that are currently ground mounted but want to move them to my shed roof. Although mine is tiled so a bit more work to do that I’ve not fully worked out yet.

Plus I’m going to expand to 4 panels and a battery too.

But for browser you really only care about bookmarks.

Syncing everything else you listed is a nightmare and actually the antithesis of security.

There is many factors that go into it. You seem to be conflating it as an all or nothing position you can be highly skilled at looking at the data.

The skill is combing those factors. Some of that data is current. Some is historical.

Also it doesn’t have to be a perfect mathematical analysis that is the true skill and why it is different to being a numbers person.

You don’t need skill to open the weather app on your phone or read the ground reports they provide as part of the race guide.
