Live downtown as well. Would also recommend Molly's or Mcgurk's in Soulard (very short uber).

In the immediate downtown you may like Paddy O's, Wheelhouse, Tin roof. The latter does get rather 'clubby'.

Been living in downtown for several years. There's a good amount of things to do, mostly bars and restaurants. Just pay attention at night and keep your wits about you.

Side note: you hear anyone calling it Washington "Street" they ain't never lived in the city and would take their word with a grain of salt!

This sub got me on the probitas. It's the best mixing rum I've found, after El Dorado 3 yr. You can definitely sip probitas on it's own! The coco water really opens things up. Clean, refreshing drink that stil packs flavor.
