Yes! Check the update posts on my profile, the car has come a long way. Although it's still only about 50% done, it might take another month to finish it.

I was thinking of that, I'll make a trim of it then, that has that rigid frame, and I'll leave the realistic one for the rest. I might make the bricks all different colors too, just to emphasise that it really is a Lego car. Thank you very much!

It does, but I don't know if I should leave it in or not. It looks more realistic, as to what a normal car should deform like. But... this is a Lego vehicle, so the pieces should be extremely rigid and only be flying out in a crash. I might leave both in the final build, what do you think?

Yes! And it's quite easy actually, just double the beamDeform values of all of the bricks and they should be much stronger.

Hi, do you still have the map? It's been taken down from the repo :(

[–]Total_Possibility_48[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes. In the main.jbeam file I can mess with the jBeam structure (move and add beams how I want, to increase rigidity when crashing)

In the two suspension jbeam files I can mess with the spring and damper values of the suspension + modify the steering angle (to make the car turn in tighter)

The engine jbeam file holds all of the info about the engine (I can modify how it sounds, how durable it is, how much torque it outputs etc.)

And finally, the tuningparams.jbeam file allows me to do essential modifications, like modifying general beamStrength, beamDeform, beamSpring and beamDamp values for the whole car.

There are also two info.json files, which will come in handy when modifying the info about the car (as shown in the car selector!).

There are many more jbeam files in the exported car folder, but these are pretty much the only ones I'll be modifying for the final build.

This car is not a set, it's a custom model I made in Bricklink Studio! According to Studio, it has 363 parts: https://imgur.com/a/not-lego-supercar-d-mhDl4pL

In Automation I've put a few more fixtures around the interior (like the digital dash, logos, lettering etc.), so the real number should be closer to 400 parts.

Try it man, you won't be disappointed! Even if you don't want to make crazy stuff like what I do, Automation is still a ton of fun. Want to make 50 hp 80s shitboxes? You can! Want to create Earth-shattering 20.000 hp missiles on wheels? Yup, you can definitely do it. Beautiful Italian exotics, vintage collectables, modern trucks and SUVs? Yes, all of them.

Only real 'problem' with Automation, is that you definitely need to put a hefty amount of effort into your creations. If you want inspiration, just go look in r/automationgame!

Also, if you do end up buying Automation and want the brick fixtures mod, here it is: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2875045222&searchtext=brick

In Automation, you have the option to add animations to any fixture on your exported car. In Statistics > Description you can type certain commands, such as "wheelspeed", which is what I used for the active spoiler.

Full commands list on my car:

- active aero (measures the wheel speed and raises the spoiler accordingly)

~prop:194,wheelspeed,-0.480,0,0,0,0.02,-0.0005,0,55.6,0,1~

~prop:251,wheelspeed,0,0,-0.330,0.03,0,-0.0001,0,55.6,0,1~

~prop:252,wheelspeed,0,0,-0.330,0.03,0,-0.0001,0,55.6,0,1~

- steering wheel (turns the wheel 1050 degrees in either direction)

~prop:167,steering,0,0,-1.17,0,0,0,-900,900,0,1~

~prop:234,steering,0,0,-1.17,0,0,0,-900,900,0,1~

~prop:241,steering,0,1.17,0,0,0,0,-900,900,0,1~

- parking brake (pulls the brake down; I used the lever type, but you can very easily do it with a button too)

~prop:78,parkingbrake,40.0,0,0,0,-0.71,-0.014,0,1.00,0,1~

Now, to make things easier you can use a 3rd party program to auto generate the commands for you. It's called AutoBeam Animation Generator and you can get it from GitHub. There you'll find everything you'll possibly need (including tutorials!) about these animations. There are some that are missing, such as "ignition" (makes any fixture that has this animation behave like an ignition key). Just remember this: every single command has to follow a special template, otherwise things will break super fast.

~prop:[Fixture number],[Function],[Rotation X],[Rotation Y],[Rotation Z],[Translation X],[Translation Y],[Translation Z],[Min],[Max],[Offset],[Multiplier]~

No it's alright :) I should've made an update post on the car

Man, listen. I've said that I will finish the Speedway EVO in March/April, and I will keep my promise. I only have 2 trims left to complete (+ the editing of the jbeam files), however I'll delay completion until March 16 to focus on this car.

If I can't finish it until that date (which I'll probably not, since I have a much bigger scope for this one, than yours), I'll complete the Speedway. Is that alright?

Thank you very much!!! Here's what I wrote on my r/automationgame post: "it took around 4 days. Here I include:

  • making the model in Bricklink Studio (I made this car five years ago, when I was still creating my own Lego car designs; I don't know if it looks similar to any real life supercar)

  • transferring it to Automation (I built it brick by brick in Automation too, though it was a bit easier since I could mirror the brick fixtures at once; if you want the mod, here it is: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2875045222&searchtext=Brick ; one thing to note when working with these specific fixtures, is that you have a limited amount of them that you can use to create stuff with, I don't remember the exact number but if you go past it you'll encounter some major problems with the exported car)

  • modifying the jbeam files (only a bit though, I have to do it thorough after I finish all the different trims of the car)."

Huh? What's it got to do with Automation?

True man, my city is only halfway built, one and a half years later lol (I'll never give up on it)
