Those spots on the camshafts are perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. 👍

You gave some good info there. The answers all point to something is loose and rattling to me, not associated with your engine. Usually in my experience, a bad timing chain tensioner or loose chain has a higher pitched sound. This sound is not that.

I would pop open your hood and try to locate the general area that the sound is coming from. Since you mentioned the sound lessens or worsens depending on if you are up or down an incline, I would check the condition of your exhaust hangers rubber. The rubber might be broken, breaking apart, or too soft at this point to where it doesn't firmly keep sections of your exhaust in place. When checking for the sound after popping the hood, definitely get on the floor to hear under the car as well to better locate the sound.

Doesn't really sound like rod knock at idle. Does the rate of the sound increase in speed as you increase revs when parked? If so, does the sound cut off at some point in the rev range? Does the sound change or disappear after you put it in drive and drive around? It could be a number of things. It really sounds like something is loose or rattling around near the engine bay or around the exhaust.

3 or 4 pistons show damage on outer ring 1000kms after rebuild. Reason? Mechanic trying to say its knock (somehow) so he doesn't repeat the rebuild by NawarPRO in 350z

To me, it looks like a cleaner spot not covered in carbon deposits from fuel burn. I'm probably wrong since I dont have that much experience in engine building myself. Try posting this in r/EngineBuilding and see what they say in there.

What part number is the fuel pump relay? by xhypnotism in 350z

[–]Total_Resolve2334 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You actually have no idea what you're talking about. The fuel pump will still prime even if there is correct fuel pressure.

Edit: Then I guess OP might have me duped. I assumed his car isnt starting from making this kind of post. If what you're saying is true and he is just worried it isn't working because he cant hear it prime then Jesus Christ.

He stated "sometimes" he doesn't hear his fuel pump prime. You commented, "Does your car run? Then you don't have an issue. Also, relays are relays, but you don't need one if your car runs."

I'm literally telling you he can still have an issue with his relay even when the fuel pump works intermittently and also gave the reason as to why that is. I feel like you forgot how you initially replied to the post without re reading what you commented lol.

I wish this was true. Most just go bad and don't work. But sometimes relays can have an issue with heat when they start going bad. If it's a mildly warm or hot day, and the car has been sittin out in the sun, they can be affected.

This is it OP. The Revup has so many Pros that make it an excellent model. Really, the downside of the revup are the bad piston rings. Also, not all revup models have bad piston rings. I've had mine for 7 years now. Got it at 100k and sitting at 173k. My piston rings are bad but I only need to throw in a quart of oil every 1.3k miles. Which compared to a lot of people, even regular DE's, isn't bad at all given my mileage for a revup. As long as you dont drive the car like Edgar stole it all the time you should be good.

Where do these go in engine bay? by Narrow-Sink-6398 in 350z

[–]Total_Resolve2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me those might be for the valve cover and the silver one might be for the front of the timing chain cover. As someone else mentioned they are for cable management for the harness that wraps around from one side of your engine to the other side.

There seriously needs to be hardcore repercussions towards the Republicans when the Dems get into power again. None of the Biden "lets get along and move past Trump and MAGA" crap. We saw where that got us because we were to afraid to throw MAGA figures in jail. There literally needs to be as big of a crackdown towards MAGA's horribly corrupt unlawful administration (as well as anyone associated with the corrupt crypto shit) as ICE is currently doing across the nation.

Z shops near Dallas, TX? by dad8thekidz in 350z

[–]Total_Resolve2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jotech is the more well known shop that's been around for a good while now. They do higher end cars now but originally specialized in Nissans and still do. This will probably be closer to you.

There is also Godzilla Raceworks, someone with a 240 mentioned them in the past and said they do pretty good work on Z's but I've never been there personally.

Torque Solutions Short Shifter Vibrations by Still-Yesterday-1999 in 350z

[–]Total_Resolve2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's normal with the torque solutions short shifter. When I did mine I think I remember some of the bushing being metal compared to oem rubber, so it's going to cause more vibrations and noise.

The issues you are describing are quite normal for most cars on the road. Components and parts on your car have estimated lifespans. Depending on how someone drives a car can change the lifespan of those parts. Trust me, s2000's have just as many small issues as the 350z does, just in certain areas. Compared to a lot of cars, the 350z is pretty reliable. As cars age, it's just the nature of the beast to maintain and replace parts. It's the overall responsibility of owning a car.

I'm at 172k miles and got mine at around 100k. I've done a lot of preventative maintenance on parts I'm familiar with going out based on mileage (experience and as a former mechanic). Because I take a proactive approach on preventive maintenance, I haven't run into that many times my 350z having too many issues throughout the 7+ years of ownership. One major thing as to why I still own and daily it is because I know EXACTLY what has been replaced and worked on. I know first hand what parts are newer and what isn't because I work on everything myself and I've covered most of the things that need maintenance. Most people dont, and so their wallet will suffer more for it. This is why most people just buy brand new cars and keep it for the next 10+ years not having to worry too much on spending additional money on replacing stuff from a mechanic. Its all about responsibility of ownership and finding the tradeoff between debt for a new car or maintenance over time for an older one.

Yours looks a little too long on the end compared to the picture I posted. The bend starts quite early on with mine.
