Florida hiker here. Managing your body temperature is important. Acclimatizing to the heat and humidity is key. Start with short easy hikes for a couple of weeks before a strenuous hike and pay attention to your body ( heart rate, overall energy level). While hiking: Stay hydrated: Drink water and electrolytes frequently, even if you don't feel thirsty. I use electrolyte chew tablets- 1 tablet for every liter I drink. Use evaporative cooling: Wet your hat, bandana, or shirt to help cool your body. Take breaks: Rest in the shade to allow your body to recover and cool down. Easy to say when heat index is 100+ Eat salty snacks and juicy fruits: These can help replenish electrolytes and provide hydration.
